Education Ministry to cover costs due to students’ vaccine side effects.

"""The Ministry of Education will support medical costs for students who experience adverse events from being vaccinated or are experiencing mental health issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As many students and parents are worried about children and youths experiencing adverse events from vaccination, we have came up with measures that can relieve the concerns,” Education Minister Yoo Eun-hae said at a press briefing held at the Sejong Government Complex on Tuesday.

The ministry will support medical costs of up to 5 million won ($4,200) for students who experience serious abnormal reactions within 90 days of being administered a COVID-19 vaccine but were not compensated by the government for lack of causality.

For students of families with an income below 50 percent of the median income, the ministry will cover up to 10 million won.

"More than two-thirds of the common side-effects people experience after a Covid jab can be attributed to a negative version of the placebo effect rather than the vaccine itself, researchers claim.

Scientists in the US examined data from 12 clinical trials of Covid vaccines and found that the “nocebo effect” accounted for about 76% of all common adverse reactions after the first dose and nearly 52% after the second dose."

It's long been known that the placebo effect can actually *ameliorate* heart failure and other cardiovascular issues.
By providing a supportive medical environment, one can actually reduce the effects of heart attacks and strokes completely independently from medication and other forms of active treatment.

Interestingly, there is also a "nocebo effect" which does the opposite: people showing real side-effect symptoms despite not actually having been given real medication.

This isn't really meant to be related to the vaccine discussion above, except to highlight that the mind can have a very powerful effect on the body: belief really *can* heal or harm. It's why most modern medical trials also include control groups in an attempt to filter out the effects of placebo/nocebo.

What percentage of "long covid" is due to this? The majority. (Is what I read.)

A fancy way of saying it's all in their heads still doesn't make it true when they in fact did have it from the effect of the vaccines, especially when they weren't all previously claiming to be worried and fearful of it.  This is still experimental no matter much you want to over explain and spin it.

I'm surprised to see Jordan Peterson become so aggressively anti-vax. He has a massive audience. Hugely influential.

Justin Trudeau wrote: "If you’re taking care of some last-minute Christmas shopping this week, here’s something else you can add to your list: a booster. If you’re eligible for one but haven’t gotten it yet, please, do so now. And if you don’t have your first or second dose, now’s the time to get it."

Jordan Peterson replied: "Up yours @JustinTrudeau. Seriously.  You'd have to kill me first."

Please don't construe my comments as having anything to do with the topic at hand (ie injuries related to the covid19 vaccine): it honestly wasn't meant to be.

I was just noting that the old adage of "mind over matter" is very, very true. It's a phenomenon that I've always thought to be really interesting.

Well he has struggled with depression, so I'd give him a break here, especially due to his demeanor.

Tough to grow up as a male with the name Jordan.

You know he had the first two jabs?  The problem is, they never stop.

I had a British friend get his two shots, then he got his 3rd shot - the booster - over the winter.  He thought he was going to have a heart attack.  His heart was beating fast and was quite winded for a few days after taking shot number 3.  He was really scared for his life.  He won't be taking shot number 4.  This was just over the winter holidays.

Did he get different brands? It seems strange the third one would cause a reaction like that.
