There probably is long COVID for some, it's also probably over-stated by the media and the medical establishment, and yes there are probably some people gaming the system. Same with various other ailments.

People have the flu. The flu-death estimate is probably overstated. And yes, some kids pretend to have the flu to skip school. And there's probably "long-flu" for some various percentage of those who get it.

And you "probably" have no idea what you are talking about.

What percentage of people who get Covid end up with long Covid? Thatís something articles donít say. I donít know a single person who got long Covid. Do you? Are people claiming it to get disability benefits and unemployment checks - free money for not working? Thatís at least some of the cases.

The more healthy a person is, the less likely they are to die. Or get sick. Or be sick long term. But rates of exercise went down during the pandemic. Rates of obesity went up.
Why exactly are you casting doubt on what is being reported by scientific researchers?

Why do keep posting the same homilies about health?

It's one of his symptoms. The presence of restrictive and repetitive behaviors along with that other symptom, the lack of empathy.

And you "probably" have no idea what you are talking about.
It's basic logic and deductive reasoning.
Is long COVID a thing? Probably. Very unlikely there isn't something there. Can't say 100% but it's reasonable to assume a significant viral infection can produce lasting effects.

Is the danger being overstated? Probably. Likely some of the cases being counted as long COVID are in fact, not long COVID but due to some other factor which was not applied. Many of these cases involve self-reporting and the conclusion that COVID was the culprit is based on little more than having once gotten COVID and then afterwards feeling some symptom (and some of those symptoms are very vague/mild). This taking place often during a period of radical alteration in a person's lifestyle and change in their environment and behavioral patterns. Furthermore, there is strong incentive to overstate mild COVID as doing so enables funding and research. If you think just because someone is a doctor they are "immune" to this, then you are anti-science and reason, because science and reason have indicated that such things are in fact, strongly influential in terms of people's behavior, regardless of profession.

Will people game the system? Yes. Unless you believe that this is the one sphere of human activity in which no one at all will lie or attempt to manipulate to their advantage.

So yes, through basic reasoning we can conclude that three things are probable- Long COVID is a thing, it is likely overstated, and it is likely some number of people are attempting to game the system with it.

I don't get why this is controversial. It doesn't really change much. The dangers of every disease are in a way overstated because doctors and researchers dealing with each disease are competing against each other for funding and resources. They're all going to overstate things to try and get their share of the pie. That doesn't mean you stop funding research.

Scientists are not infallible, they are not a priesthood that is above questioning. They also are susceptible to influence, bias and greed, just like everyone else.

Does that mean L I's paranoia is justified? No. Does it mean his reasoning is sound? No. But the response to that is to explain why, not to strike down the peasant for daring to question the high priesthood.

They are the priesthood or theyíre not? Make up your mind.

Scientists under go a lot of scrutiny by their peers and institutions. Most of them are not in it for greed or notoriety but because they want to do good in this world.

Oh please. If you think modern science is some noble scientist tinkering away in the lab, you're an idiot. Science is a business. Get a clue.

Yeah!  Similarly, teaching is a job.  Teachers are in it for the money, get a clue.  Teachers certainly don't make an altruistic commitment to do something to improve the world a little bit.

If you think all or the majority of scientists are in it primarily for the money then you are doing a great disservice to them. Not all scientists work for big pharma or are in it to make money.

You're projecting. You look at everything from an economic perspective.
