What's your e-mail sign-off?
« on: December 24, 2021, 09:34:25 am »
I guess I'm mostly asking about professional e-mails here. I usually go with "Thanks," but I used to just sign off with my name after a '-'. That seemed a bit too cold though. I've seen all kinds of stuff: "Best," "Regards," "Cheers," "xoxo". So what's your go-to and what do you think that says about you?

Usually I just go the old fashioned "Sincerely, Kyndo", because everybody knows it's just meaningless pleasantry. Anything else, and I feel like people would believe I actually mean it.

However, I'm considering maybe switching over to "Good day sir. I said Good day!"

I picked up "Thank you for your time" from my work partner when I used to work in college housing (we worked in pairs, and had to send a summary email at the end of every shift). I like it because it sounds nice, but is a bit of a platitude, and not as personal as "sincerely" feels. Works best at the end of those short messages I write all the time.

“Best regards,” and the corporate standard signature block for formal emails,

 “Thanks,

-j” for internal or informal emails.

Sincerely  if it's for some professional purpose to a new contact, otherwise Take care or these days, Stay safe. I also like the idea of using exclamation marks in emails to make them seem more sincere.

You still use email?
I put this quote under my profile because D.L. Orean is jealous of me.  He quotes my every word like gospel and stalks my every move online.  He even puts fake quotes under his profile.  How lame is that?  He must be real ugly if he's going to such great lengths to comment on my own appearance....
