Are you inputting health info into an app daily?
« on: August 27, 2021, 01:59:50 pm »
Did you download the app 건강상태 자가진단(교육부) to send health info to the education office at the start of each workday? How long will one who starts doing this need to continue to do it do you think? Maybe until Covid-19 variant scares are gone from the earth… or maybe forever for data to protect against a potential future pandemic? And/or for higher ups to just be aware of general health of employees? Because of a vaccine shortage in South Korea, full vaccinations have been delayed; maybe this is the reason I / we have been told to do this. Looked at the App Store reviews: two stars out of five. That’s surprisingly low. Is that more because the app malfunctions, freezes, crashes, and/or slows down the phone by using a lot of storage space, or because people are ticked they need to use it?

I don't even own a thermometer. I just say no to everything. We gotta temp check anyway the moment we enter the school so I don't even see the point.

There's an app that I had to download, but there's no option for inputting my temperature unless I say that I have a fever. Otherwise, I just have to check "no" on three questions, and I'm done.

I'm pretty sure they're going to be having us doing this until mostly everyone has been fully vaccinated, at the very least.

They might. Some Koreans are hyper scared of coronavirus. Especially when it comes to foreigners.

Tracking is taken very seriously. People who ignored quarantine were dealt with severely.

I wonder if all that will become of it is them thinking, “This foreign teachers is an a—hole. We’re all doing it but he’s not.”

I was told by my co-teacher that "until all those Krispy Kreme eating rotund fatty foreigners who hate walking get in shape, this app is here to stay."  Thought it was a bit harsh.

all the better for me, i still dont have to stress out if i miss a day or two or a week or two, and im already not particularly concerned with the opinion of the education office lol. anyways, not logging in on an app isnt close to comparable to ignoring a mandatory 2-week quarantine, so unless they have some sort of automated system flagging it when you dont sign in *and* somebody who cares enough to check...

Pretty sure people care. Otherwise the app / mandate wouldn’t exist.

“Why haven’t you been using the app?”

What’ll your response be?

If someone doesn't check, teacher or student, the nurse will come to check, since she gets the notification of who hasn't checked in. I usually do it an hour or so before work. Just three questions, hit no 3 times and done.

How will compliance be policed though? :police:
Sounds like a really dumb idea. QR are codes indicating your location and whether you were in the proximity of an infected person are much smarter.  You would be contacted before showing signs of infection.  Contact tracing is where its at but it's difficult with high infection levels.

you're either hopelessly naive or know very little about bureaucracy. I've worked office jobs before, you'd be hard pressed to identify the few apps/mandates that people actually do care about.

“Why haven’t you been using the app?”

What’ll your response be?

"my bad, i forgot"

huh. well, i haven't heard anything from our school nurse yet, probably because they're the one busy manning the temp check station at the entrance

“We’ve noticed you haven’t been using the app. Everyone else is.”

Oops. I forgot.

“Okay, well from now on you need to.”

OK. [And then will proceed to continue not to.]

High chance it’ll result in at least one person thinking you, and by extension foreign teachers in general, are bad / unreliable.
