Fatality rate of SARS-CoV-2 now equals the common flu
« on: August 20, 2021, 01:19:46 pm »
Good news for once.

"The average fatality rate of COVID-19 patients was previously 0.98 percent,
but in line with the vaccine rollout, the figure fell to 0.18 percent last month,
similar to that of the seasonal flu. We might look for possible ways to control
the coronavirus similar to the flu," Kim said.

So, basically daily case numbers are not so important anymore.

If that's the case, then open her the f*ck back up. We had normal life with the flu, we can have normal life with this.

We have just been informed by government decree that schools are open September 1st for the new school year. Practice social distancing as much as possible, wear masks when appropriate, wash your hands and use sanitizer frequently, cover your mouth if you sneeze etc.......but get on with life!

Yeah....

Overtake the US in deaths? No, because Koreans are less obese.

Overtake the US in the percentage of fully vaccinated? Yeah, eventually, because there are fewer anti-vaxer conspiracy theorists in Asia. As of now, only half the US is fully vaccinated. In Korea, one in five.

I read the USA has donated more vaccines than every other country on earth combined. Thatís one good thing about the country. The bad part is folks there arenít getting the shots. ButÖ regulations making it inconvenient not to are coming Ö such as those without the shot can do regular testing in in lieu. Those who choose that option will get the shot not long after to avoid the continued annoyance prolly.

This is one of the strengths of the US health care system. It has massive problems, but it is also the one that is developing and churning out the best vaccines and distributing them around the world. Not "enlightened" Europe and the Commonwealthers.

i dont think i'd include biotech companies as part of a nation's "health care system". at least that's usually not what people mean when they use those words. i think very few people would disagree that the US has some of the most advanced biotech companies in the world

For the amount Euros prattle on about how shit America is with health care, you think they might have been the ones whose hearts were broken.

I think if we include big pharma as part of the problem when things go badly, we should include them when things go well.  Our system is great for innovation  and development...not so much for access to care.

Yeah, too bad that the actual scientific research was done by BioNTech,
a German company. Pfizer merely provided the grunt work. Nice try,
though.

Also the bioengineering technology called CRISPR, was first done
in Japan at Osaka University. This technology was fundamental
in designing mRNA vaccines. But, once again, nice try.

FL gov. ron desantis, is, like martini, vehemently opposed to any Covid-19 restrictions. Above is just one of the repercussions of such a stance.

With vaccines reportedly around 50% effective against the Delta variant, wearing a mask is common sense. An ounce of prevention is worth however much the hot air Rs are spewing out weighs.

Not that I would question the credibility of the Korea Times but I wouldn't mind a link to a specific scientific study or report to support these claims made by Professor Kim  from Seoul Uni.

The image is of a woman lying down after receiving an injection of Regeneron.

I felt weak and dizzy after my Pfizer injection; I guess itís something like that.

When I was seasick I layed down to calm my stomach; I wonder if anyone took a picture and passed it off as a dead body.

Today I read this headline: ĎUK approves Regeneron/Roche antibody cocktail for COVID-19í

Itís a new treatment that makes some people feel sick? I wonder how many / what percentage.
She's waiting to get an injection at a public library. There were no chairs.

She's suffering from Covid.

"Louie Lopez showed up to the downtown Jacksonville Main Library Conference Center on Wednesday in the early afternoon for a Regeneron therapy appointment. His primary care doctor recommended it after Lopez tested positive for COVID-19 and was experiencing moderate to severe symptoms.

While waiting in line for his turn, two other people got in the line behind Lopez. Both of them, he says, sat down on the floor immediately. They eventually laid down ďsick and moaning.Ē Lopez, 59, told the Times-Union the woman pictured in yellow was dragging herself on the floor as the line slowly moved forward. "

Hey Davey! You're worried about links? What about LI's obvious disinformation? Sheesh!
