Which one of the 4 seasons is Monsoon season?
« on: July 07, 2021, 08:10:56 am »
Remind me again, which one of the 4 seasons is Monsoon season?

Absolutely vile weather this though. The paper on my desk has turned into a pulp.

Is this like the imaginary birthdays thing were high school 3rd graders say they are 19 when they're actually 17? Or is it like the movie on at 25:30 at the cinema? I'm a little confused.

So far, it's just hitting the south with any strength.

Well, it does make it a little tricky teaching seasons, because Western materials say it rains in springtime, so you match up raincoats and umbrellas with April and May.  But in Korea the rainy season is the second half of June through mid August.

Bit similar to hurrican season in the states or typhoon season in SE asia, I realize monsoon season and typhoon season are different though. A bit like Christmas season too I suppose. **Course if you consider the southern hemisphere then the Christmas season gets weird.

From mid- June to late July.

Companies give vacations the last couple of days of July and first few days of August because they are usually the sunniet. Typhoon season in South Korea is mid-August to mid-September.

Last Summer was my first summer here where I actually noticed (and got completely sick of) all the rain.  I know rain is common in summer, it's just last summer it seemed to never stop and was always a deluge.  I told my wife that it was the first real monsoon season experience of my life, and I hated it.  I'm hoping it was just an aberration and we'll be back to just moderate rainfall for a bit.

Last summerís flooding was from constant typhoons not just monsoon.
