Well, now they've gone and done it.

Out with the horns and tail. Out I say!

I now self-identify as a Dragon Man. I'm almost human. (KISS were before their time)

‘Dragon Man’ skull may be new species, shaking up human family tree

Hidden down a well for decades, the stunningly complete cranium is stirring debate about the increasing number of fossils that don’t neatly fit in the classic human origin story.

BYMAYA WEI-HAAS
PUBLISHED JUNE 25, 2021

The strange skull appeared soon after the Japanese invaded northeast China in the early 1930s. A team of locals was raising a bridge near Harbin, a city in China’s northernmost province, when one of the workers stumbled on a surprise in the river mud. The nearly complete human skull had an elongated cranium from which a heavy brow bone protruded, shading the gaping squares that once housed eyes.

And then there was the skull’s unusual size: "It's enormous," says paleoanthropologist Chris Stringer of London's Natural History Museum.

Perhaps aware of the magnitude of the find, the man secreted the skull away in an abandoned well. Now, nearly 90 years later, a study published in the journal The Innovation makes the case that this skull represents a new human species: Homo longi, or the Dragon Man.

Two additional studies reveal that the stunningly preserved cranium likely came from a male that died at least 146,000 years ago. Its mashup of both ancient and more modern anatomical features hints at a unique placement on the human family tree.

"I’ve held a lot of other human skulls and fossils, but never like this," says paleoanthropologist Xijun Ni of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who is an author of all three studies.

Based on the shape and size of the Harbin skull, as it's often called, and comparison to other known fossils, the researchers posit that it’s closely related to several other perplexing human fossils, from this same time period, that have been found across Asia. The researchers’ analysis suggests all these fossils belong to a group that is closely related to our own species—perhaps even more so than the Neanderthals.

Despite what some may think or spout. My initial question was asked from the heart. What separates us? Can we decide? It's clear that we can decide our sex and the law seems to back that up. At least in some countries. Why not race? We all have African DNA. All of us. So why not?

This was interesting. A snippet I found intriguing which seems to back up my argument. There are S. Africans here. What do you think?

In the post-apartheid era, the Constitution of South Africa has declared the country to be a "Non-racial democracy". In an effort to redress past injustices, the ANC government has introduced laws in support of affirmative action policies for Blacks; under these they define "Black" people to include "Africans", "Coloureds" and "Asians".

In 2008, the High Court in South Africa ruled that Chinese South Africans who were residents during the apartheid era (and their descendants) are to be reclassified as "Black people,"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_people

My only other question is, is it possible to have a discussion here without the children starting tangential arguments or childish attacks?

Your argument and concerns are built on a foundation that is flawed (no pun intended).

You're simply using the loudest voices (media, corporations and parliamentary bills of the week) as a litmus of the greater society, this isn't necessarily the case. SJWs tend to be very loud and most laws 'diversity' laws are token gestures to placate them. The media and corporations tend to focus on controversy for publicity/ratings which leads to profit.

Every South African knows that ANC BEE policies are simply code for nepotism, in reality it's the black elite, typically connected to a politician, who finds themselves landing these lucrative BEE posts.

Racial classification is relative.
On a global/international scale, the term black generally refers to your skin colour.
On a domestic scale your racial classification is more entwined with the countries respective culture and history.

My biggest hope for the future is that talking about race becomes boring and people stop concerning themselves with it.

Won't be anytime soon. Accusations of racism (and fascism!) are strong weapons right now with a lot of benefits. But I am sure as soon as the US stops with it the rest of the world will follow suit.

Things can be true at the same time.

1) "I identify as..." is out of control
2) Some people have REAL identity issues and are in serious discomfort. I mean, if you were born with your hormones/genes out of whack and were having to deal with a binary society, wouldn't you want some sympathy and maybe we should, I don't know, not be total dicks and try to help people instead of acting like 13-year olds?

3) Critical Race Theory/Blame Whitey crap is out of control.
4) There are some real problems with race out there. One look at this board and some of the shit people say, who at the same time insist they aren't racist or don't see race, makes it clear that we still have a way to go on race. I mean some people here don't even fundamentally see Koreans as actual people. They just see them as some herd, where maybe a few select individuals emerge from. And they don't view them as individuals who each have their own hopes, goals, and aspirations, but as essentially objects for their amusement. They think the country and the people exist to cater to them (and there are plenty of Koreans who feel this way about foreigners). Just look at their criteria for whether Korea is "good" or not and it all revolves around "Is this country/people fulfilling MY needs?"

I mean, sorry, but if some of ya'll can't even handle that basic level of human respect and decency, then yeah, we do need to keep on educating people about improving their treatment of different races/ethnicities.

As I've said before, the answer to SJW/uberleftist nuttery is not to be an asshole in the opposite direction.

I mean some of the stuff being bandied about is the lefty equivalent of RW Moral Majority kind of stuff. There was a happy balance of "Stop Racism". Now you get "All white people are awful" and that noise.

But yeah free marketplace. No reason laws should be made against it being taughy unless it veers into proselytizing and is a pseudo-religion in the classroom.

BRITISH INFLUENCER
'I'M FINALLY KOREAN'

... Had 18 Surgeries to Look Like BTS Singer!!!
6/28/2021 3:17 PM PT

A British influencer elected to undergo surgery after surgery after surgery so they could look like BTS singer Park Jimin -- and says they no longer feel trapped, and identifies as Korean.

Lots to unpack here, but Oli London -- who identifies as non-binary -- said Monday they've been trapped in the wrong body for 8 years, but can now "be myself" because "I'm finally Korean."

London's changed their name to Jimin, and says some of the 18 surgeries included extensive work on their eyes, and a brow lift.

They even spoke in Korean in parts of the video, and added ... "I know it's a little confusing, nobody has ever come out as Jimin or Korean, but this is something you guys know ... I've really struggled with identity issues with who I am."

Jimin -- the wannabe, not the singer -- said Korean is their culture, their home country and now they're happy to look Korean ... after at least $150k worth of surgeries over 8 years.

The racial transition, as Jimin puts it, is drawing lots of criticism -- to which they say ... "Being Transexual is the same as being TRANSRACIAL because you are born in the wrong body."

No word yet on how Jimin, the BTS frontman, feels about all of this.

The NBA has always tried to "white up" things for marketing purposes. You really think Chris Mullin and Christian Laettner deserved to be on the Dream Team?

NBA should have stepped in and told Jordan to settle his beef with Zeke and let him on the team instead of one of those two bums.
Chris Mullin was no bum.

God, I "love" this forum. Anytime I want to see a mirror reflecting the worst of humanity, I can come here to get my fix. And to think this place was meant for foreign English teachers in Korea to use!

FWIW, the troglodytes going around mocking gender identity should grow a brain. Lots of things can happen during development. Some people are born blind or deaf, or missing limbs. Others are born hermaphrodites. So the idea that a person can't be born with the wrong gender identity is untenable.

And to answer the OP's question: No, it's not legit. Race is a social construct, and society rejects your claim. Now go back under the bridge you crawled out from...

Imo, I don't think Oli London is a good example to use in the "transracial vs transgender" argument because I don't think it's the race that's most important to him, but Jimin. Usually when we see people insist that they are the same as a celebrity, and even go as far as getting plastic surgery to look like that celebrity, they're looked at by the vast majority of people as being insane (for lack of a better word). We've seen it with people trying to look/act like Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and many others. Finding your identity and how you feel most comfortable is one thing, and for some people, that includes getting plastic surgery or being inspired by someone and emulating them. Trying to change your entire life, from how you look to your name, to copy every aspect of another person is entirely different.  When I look at Oli London I feel both anger and pity towards him, because he obviously has some deeper issues that he needs to work out if the only way he can feel comfortable in himself is to copy another person down to their name and looks.

People that are transgender don't typically just copy someone else. I mean, maybe if they're getting plastic surgery they might have a person they find attractive to use as reference, but they're not trying to literally be that person. Oli London isn't just trying to be Korean, he's trying to be Jimin, and because Jimin is Korean, Oli London wants to be Korean too. I would bet money that if Jimin were any race other than white, Oli London would say he's that race because Jimin is the important factor here. And the fact that he says, "no one else has come out as Jimin" is so weird. No one else has come out as "Jimin" because you can't "come out" as another person?? Imo, Oli London's behavior is a completely different separate from the "transracial" argument because there is so much more going on with him. If he just claimed he was Korean and got plastic surgery to look Korean, then he'd be a good example here. But nope, it's all about Jimin, so I guess instead we could have another conversation of can you identify as another person? Or should you maybe go to therapy? I don't follow bts at all but I would pay to hear what Jimin's thoughts are on all this.

If you're serious about winning this ideological battle and combating the crazy parts of identity politics, your response to "babies born disabled or with genetic abnormalities" should NOT be "I'm Elvis."

Either you're serious about stopping this crap or not. And if you want to stop it, you need to be serious and not an ass in the opposite direction.

Casuals and neutrals watching things will choose "I've been uncomfortable my whole life, here's my story" vs. "I'm Elvis" all day long.
