To be fair the demolition company brought it down ahead of schedule.

Safety here is like finding good foreign food, rare.

Might want to close the adjacent road and footpaths when you're demolishing a high rise building lads.

Reminds me of the 4 lane highways where you meet a single traffic cone 10m in front of a road crew while you're driving 90kmh.

Korea is decades behind OECD nations in road and construction safety.

Yeah, definitely some questions to be asked.

For all we know it could be the negligence of SeoHyun Explosives and Household Chemicals and Cosmetics rather than Kkangpae Construction Co.

Yeah, this! Why wasn't the road closed during the demolition? Mind boggling.

Who in their right mind would demolish a multi-story building right by an active road? I'm pretty sure I've seen road closures in other Korean cities for building demolitions.

The two workers on the right in the video don't seem overly worked up about the situation.

I wonder where it is.  Is it near Geumnam-no?  The old downtown?  At first I thought it was near the U Square bus terminal, but looks like an older part of the city.

The stupidity at every level in that tragedy does not surprise me in the least: Korea.

Can't argue with this one.  Resident aologist won't like this though.

According to the youtube vid, it wasn't an explosive demolition apparently. Seems like some piece of heavy equipment was up there tearing parts of it down and something happened that caused the building to collapse. Sounds like pre-demolition.

Korea is also an OECD leader in factory accident deaths and childhood accident deaths.

Safety takes a back seat to "Bali bali!" in the land of the so-called morning calm.

I guess the reason why they lowered most of the speeds to 50. Surprising thing is that it seems most people are actually slowing down.

They will only really slow down if there’s a speed camera.

They were also playing spin the soju bottle to see who got to press the big red button.

It seems like the unions could do something about the safety in the factories.

But who knows? I know a guy who worked at the Kia plant in Atlanta and when he learned I had lived in Korea the first thing he mentioned was Koreans' lack of safety consciousness.
