I've heard of Chinese hospitality, but this is ridiculous. Let this be a warning for those wanting to make ESL money in the land of the CCP. I can only imagine how sadistic some of the testing staff  will be when doing the probes. And only for foreigners???

China has made anal COVID-19 swabs mandatory for all foreign travelers arriving in the country, a report said Wednesday.

The government has claimed that such tests provides a higher degree of accuracy than other screening methods for the virus, the Times UK reported.

As part of the new travel requirement, there will be testing hubs in Beijing and Shanghai airports, the outlet reported.

Li Tongzeng, a respiratory disease medic, said that the anal swabs are better because virus traces stay longer in fecal samples than they do in the nose or throat, state media reported.

The move comes after Japan asked China to stop performing the exams on their citizens when they enter the country because the swabs cause mental anguish.

“Some Japanese reported to our embassy in China that they received anal swab tests, which caused a great psychological pain,” Katsunobu Kato, Japan’s chief cabinet secretary, told a news conference.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, however, defended the screenings as “science-based”

The tests are “in accordance with the changes in the epidemic situation as well as relevant laws and regulations,” he said.

but really... if it's better for testing foreigners, surely it's better for testing chinese people too? i'm willing to believe it's more accurate or w.e (i'm no scientist like many of you here are), but if that's not the standard for testing chinese citizens too, then we're definitely just getting punk'd

"Great pyschological pain?"  Based on some Japanese adult cinema I've only ever heard about I'm thinking they'll have to add on extra flights from Nippon to China.  They'll also have to teach the Chinese medical staff performing the tests how to say "No, I just need a swab!" in Japanese.  Wait until the Germans hear about this.  Achtung baby!

Like I said in another thread.  Wait till covid is done before going there to teach.  But, I thought I read elsewhere this was mostly for some diplomats or something.  I would hit Vietnam or another country in the meantime if I had to leave Korea.

I think that would backfire, pun intended. 

Yeah, they've got a bunch of doctors and scientists saying that anal swabs aren't the best or most efficient testing method, despite the CCP's claims (which they're making based on isolated results).

They're unnecessarily invasive, but China's government has never cared about that, lol.

If China's medical standards and history of outbreaks and infections (including the CCP virus) are anything to go by it's safe to assume that they'll use the same anal swab for everyone.

On the other hand, I can't help thinking that this is a perfectly symbolic gesture for anyone planning on working in China; You want to work in CCP land? You better be prepared to bend over for the government.

And, I highly doubt they'll be putting squeamish people in charge of collecting the anal swabs.
