These numbers are amazing. 80 million Americans thought Trump was good enough to re-elect.

That's the biggest takeaway from the election for me. Coupled with Putin and Xi not sending congrats yet.

Conservatives have spent billions and billions of dollars since the 70s convincing the American public that government is the devil and taxes are his instrument, that the 2nd amendment was handed down by God, that the poor are poor because they want to be and that any attempts to help them are in reality a way to steal from taxpayers (but not from the wealthy since the US is the biggest tax haven in the world) and that all safety net programs are SOCIALISM! while senior citizen repups cry when the don't get big SS CoL increases.

Yeah, but the white bigots were already there. You could argue that Trump enabled them, but all he really did is rip the mask off what already existed. Black people were getting murdered by cops and immigrants were being mass-deported during the Obama years too (not to mention the Flint water crisis and Dakota keystone pipeline). This is the same exact shit that Republicans say when you prove to them that Trump is awful. "Well Obama did bad things so stop talking about Trump." And Republican governor Rick Snyder is to blame for Flint's water.

Then they won't fund the military which means you will now have to cut your own health care back and fund your own military now.  (A much reduced US security umbrella for other countries.)  Unless you really believe the UN will 'protect' you?

The wrangling over defence spending is only a percentage point or two of GDP overall. NATO wants members to spend 2% of GDP on defence, the US with its global "leadership" fixation spends only 3-4% of GDP on the military.

European public spending is about 45% of GDP. Upping defence by by a percent or two isn't going to "cut back" the health system or welfare. It's chump change but the domestic politics isn't there to push it through. Most countries don't see the point and votes can be won better through other priorities.

Once Trump burns out and finally concedes I doubt they'll have the numbers to present an active threat, and if they do the Biden administration can send the National Guard in and quash them easily (that's what right-wingers wanted Trump to do to Antifa, right? White bigots expressed their jealousy over Obama because he was the first black man elected to office. As for the deportations of immigrants, the deportations reached its peak under Obama more than Trump and all the previous presidents. The difference is Obama allowed for these deportations to occur based on law, Trump on the other hand used fear and bigotry against immigrants.

Sure, Obama put a nicer face on it. But even if we accept Trump's deportations were illegal and say Obama's deportations were "based on law" its still meaningless when the law itself is immoral.
