Dune trailer

Looks promising and I'm hyped, Dune is probably my favourite Sci-Fi universe. The cast definitely seems closer to the books than the movies, but I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't go for Lynch's portrayal of the Baron.
Keen to see if and how they're going to accurately depict "The Weirding Way", the book depicts it as hand-to-hand combat
that moves too fast for the laws of reality, you see it in DBZ and Lynch's movies obviously had none of this.

I know very little about Dune but you attach Villeneuve's name to something and I'm there. Been a fan of his since Incendies at TIFF.
The first thing to say is that this is definitely not pyramid selling, OK?

Anything David Lynch does is at least worth watching once.

Maybe not more than once, but once. hahahaha

Blue Velvet is a masterpiece and Mulholland Drive is such a great ride.

Old movie will always hold a special place in my heart, was my introduction to Dune as a kid which lead me to the books in my teens.
It messes up the book, a lot, but it can still be appreciated in its own weird way, particularly Toto's music score. I'd definitely give it a watch.

I watched the original movie a few days ago.  What a stinking pile of shite.

I read all the books ages ago and they were better. As I recall the books were
like 10cm thick.  How could you put all that into a two-hour movie?

I love the Dune Series. Even the Prequels written by Herbert's son and Kevin J. Anderson.  Villeneuve's looks spectacularly amazing. I think this film will go down as a classic, and I'm hoping as a success too. This film is only part 1 of a planned 2 part series. The downside of that is... if the first film doesn't make any money, there won't be a much needed follow up film. The OG Dune movie is a cult classic, that doesn't get enough respect as it should in my opinion. With all that being said I hope it'll be released in South Korea, as I'll risk catching the 'rona just to see that movie.

A young destined ruler of a planet?

I enjoyed Dune when i read it in middle school. But that trailer has me rolling my eyes in a world with The Lion King, Game of Thrones and other imperial storylines.

Donít know the books but I do love a Denis Villeneuve movie. Cast looks interesting, too.

It's all about the spice!!! Always made me feel like they were fields of nutmeg in the sand. I think the movie looks bad ass and I don't mind if they take a liberty here and there. The books were a great starting place, but since we all visualize a book differently you shouldn't hold it to that standard. I love all the off shoots. Even the video game story-lines were fun. Loved those games. I'm just happy they brought this back in the era of cgi effects. They can finally get some decent worm riding in. Looks like they have a decent cast as well. The world may be on fire but dammit we will be entertained while we burn!

If you've read the books you'll know that Dune gets a hell of a lot more complex than a simple power struggle. It also predates both by around 3 decades.

One cool aspect of the trailer is it is set to Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon.

The irony.

Anti-war, anti-fascism, and the need for less biased educational systems to topple the elites...

Gawd this century is blind...

I think you're referring to Pink Floyd, The Wall.

The Dark Side of the Moon.

The darkness of insanity, the striving to fill an unfullfilled life in the face of insurmountable obstacles.

I spent years as an undergrad and grad student in Philosophy hearing crap like that.
