Thanks for posting that video! It was perfect for my class...much better than the story in the book.

There's more where that came from ... here's a list of Gogo's Adventures video links in order: -> http://teachinchuncheon.blogspot.com/2010/09/video-links-gogos-adventures-with.html

My blog is a bit out-of-date, but this link should be helpful in finding things to replace the curriculum.

To further contribute, here is a scanned copy of a boardgame - it's a little faint, but if you have an image editor to make it brighter, it might work.

Warm-up Activity Grade 3 Lesson 2: What's This?
« Reply #22 on: April 05, 2011, 01:20:09 pm »
I did this as a warm-up activity and the kids really loved it. I gave students at random different objects that they didn't already have: markers, pens, whiteboard erasers, cd, etc., and had them lift up the item as it was sung on the video.  ;D I also followed it with the "What's this?" ppt and "Chase the Vocab" ppt which were both a hit. Thanks so much, everyone!

Made a guessing game for Hooray 3

Go over the expressions:

What's this/that?
It's a pencil / book / clock / computer / TV / robot / hat / pen

The powerpoint is setup so the kids can't guess to quickly. I added some tricky pictures to keep the kids interested and having fun. Enjoy.

I'm an EPIK teacher teaching through video-conferencing, so my lessons have to be very simple, but these powerpoints will work well if your students are low-level and/or need a lot of repetition.

Attached is a Cookie Monster bomb game.  Mostly a voc review using the question "What's this?" with a few questions about the letter "b" and "n".  Also two having the kids sing the "Good Morning" song and the "Good-bye" song which we do every time.  Many thanks so the orginal creators (template and theme).

I have added lesson plan for chapter 2

I teach at an elementary school in Gwangju (3rd, 4th and 5th grade). My students are at an extraordinarily high level (80% go to hagwons 3 times a week or more), so the textbook is too low for them, and the school asked me to ratchet up the rigor in my lesson plans.

Last year during a club class I realized how much students love “would you rather” exercises because most of their day is spent memorizing/ regurgitation information as opposed to being creative. Whether you classroom is high-level or not, I have implemented an activity called “would you want?”, in which every week I present students with 5 slides asking them if they would want one of two items, both of which are relevant to or included in the weekly vocabulary. The students have 1 minute to think and discuss with a friend, then I ask for volunteers or call numbers to see who will answer the question (I usually choose three students a slide).  I always make sure to write the sentence frame “I would want ______ because _____.” So that students called on will have something to rely on/ something with which to practice their reading skills, and the 1 minute talk time holds students accountable without stressing them out.

Long story short- this activity gets students talking! Try it out if you have time in your classroom today!

My students responded really well to a lot of the powerpoint games posted in this thread, particularly the Sponge Bob game and anything containing animals. This thread has been reall y helpful for ideas to teach this topic, and it's a great way to introduce students to a lot of new English vocab. It's also good spelling practice for the older students i.e. you can ask them, "What's this?" They need to say the word, and then spell it correctly (i.e. animal/fruit vocab).

This is an intro powerpoint for the awesome Spongebob game which someone uploaded. My kids didn't know most of the vocab, so this is just a simple ppt to help them get it right.
