Aug 17th is RED DAY.
« on: July 21, 2020, 12:40:05 pm »
Do not let your place of employment steal a day of vacation from you.
Haven't you got some pictures of birds to be jacking off to, son?

It's already during my vacation so I'll get an extra day to use in winter, I guess. :)
The first thing to say is that this is definitely not pyramid selling, OK?

My Co-teacher said this is still preliminary, but the news outlets deem definitive ...

edit: She just now told me it's confirmed.

I was told about it yesterday too.  However this is the first day of the online zoom camp so now we have to do the camp over 4 days instead of 5 days.   My school has a very late summer vacation this year (late and long but no winter vacation).

It has caused a bit of rearranging of things.  Normally I would like an extra holiday but not this year at this time.

My co-teacher wanted us to do 4 days of 50 minutes [times 2 as I am doing one grade 3 online camp and then the next hour doing the one hour grade 4 online camp].  However the principal didn't like that idea as 20 minutes is equivalent to one class offline and he didn't like the idea of splitting the time.  I don't think he could see that I would have been doing 100 minutes in one day (with the two camps).  So now we have two days of 60 minutes (hoping my co-teacher is correct and that we won't get cut off at the 40 minute mark), and two days of 40 minutes.  Hopefully this won't be too confusing for the students.

also we had to change the start times.  Originally the grade 3s were at 9 and the grade 4s were at 10.  But I don't think I can go back-to-back like that.  Especially if we have a problem.  Neither my co-teacher nor I are great with technology.

So now we have changed the grade 4 camp to start at 10.30.  Hope it all works out.

Also I will just delete one day's worth of material that I had planned.  I had one poem to write each day, one vowel sound each day, one story each day.

Well, schools are also closed on discretional holidays and some NET's have to use their vacation time. This is different though, it's a red day. We do not work red days, they are paid days off that do not need vacation day use. End of discussion.

You're right though, I'm sure lots of newbs will not want to argue and have to do camp of something.

end of discussion is correct. RED day , no work , do not use vacation time.
this is very different.

I mean, you can choose to work on red days, but then the school is obliged to pay you overtime, which means they won't want you to, lol

Like nobody is watching!

No, but seriously, I had labour day in mind when I wrote this: it's a red-day for contract teachers, but not for regular ones.
