Gambling on the stock market for NET?
« on: July 08, 2020, 08:13:15 am »
Hello all,

I just wanted to pick the collective brain on stock market things.

Epik and GOE contracts state something like this

"The Employee shall not engage in any other employment (including any part-time, private or ④
self-employment, or online instruction) during the Term of Employment set forth under Article 5
hereof."

Does this make it illegal to trade stocks (I'm not fishing for morality on trading vs gambling or such) I just want to know if anyone has information about this topic from the legal standpoint of a  NET working in a public school.

Thanks in advance.

No it's not illegal

****If you are American I recommend e*trade and/or stockpile, but there are lots of online options.  Also look into Roth IRA if it's going to be a long term investment (but you can buy and sell) for tax purposes.

**** Mirae Asset for investing in Korea, you may need to be on an F series visa though.

Investing and employment aren't the same thing.
