Not to engage in any armchair psychiatry or anything (Iím hardly qualified for that!), but yeah, maybe the witnessing the death of your father, Bob, and hatred for your momís subsequent abusive boyfriend, Steve, bears some relation to your current behavior.

i also tend to let (certain kinds of) spiders chill in my home. i call all of them bob
House spiders are good. They get rid of pests.
