A question about logic
« on: June 16, 2020, 05:25:36 pm »
Here's the story in a nutshell.

My boss says that if you share something on Facebook (not an original thought or opinion, simply sharing) and express no opinion on it, you simply share it, then you are logically agreeing with it / support it / believe it.....

I say no. Sharing something and offering no opinion at all does not logically imply you agree or disagree. You cannot make that leap logically.

I completely believe I am right and my boss is wrong.

Yes.

No comment implies agreement.

Yeah, me too.  Why would you share--putting your name and picture/avatar/whatever together with--a statement you don't agree with?

LIC, you say you're "offering no opinion" but you are offering that statement as your opinion.  You're not saying 'somebody said this, and I'd like to see what other people think about it.'  You're just saying that thing.  It is tacit approval (implied or indicated (as by action or by silence) ...
Mr. C is not a bad person, in fact is quite a good person here. One of the best people on this forum if you really look at it

The time really must fly in the tropics.

I was talking with one of my 'bosses' today at school and we were talking about her two selves, the official school one where she's on the ball, organising staff, meetings etc or the shy one when she talks to me. She asked if I found the official one more attractive.

That's a tropics conversation.

Facebook?  What is it, 2004?

My thread about erasing the past seems to be moderately enticing.

Also, why the hate? Ahhh...I get it. You're a liberal!

In a music-related Facebook group I was in, there was an individual that went by the name of Vince. Vince would post spam-post his awful anime rap or whatever the heck it was at least a few times a week.

The mods gave us a simple task - if one of his posts gets zero likes and zero comments, he will be banned from the group.

Needless to say, he is still there to this day.

Of course it looks like you're supporting it.

You just have to write  "Look at this clown" or "Oof, this sucks" to clarify your disapproval of it.
The first thing to say is that this is definitely not pyramid selling, OK?

I think what Shanebarry1986 is trying to illustrate with those pictures is that he agrees that all police everywhere should be shot, that the Soviet Union's policy of imprisoning and torturing the political opposition was ok, that offending people should be punishable by death, and that anti-antisemitism is not actually really that bad, and that reformatting a post is just way too much work.

There are, but they only apply to CO2.
Since I read posts in a nearly minimized window next to where I'm jigsawing ppts together, everybody's writing looks like what you typed anyway, so don't stop on my account! Carry on, carry on!

Haha, nailed it. Thanks for explaining things for our slower members. Though I have no idea how to resize images on here, so I'm not claiming to be a genius.

tbh i didnt read the thread. i came in expecting a question about logic and immediately gave up once i saw that that isn't what this is (because im a quitter). i should've searched deeper into those gargantuan pictures for the underlying message

My apologies for impugning your intelligence. It was wrong of me to insult anyone for not getting my point, as there are indeed people on this very site who do sincerely hold the views summed up by those signs.
