Does anyone have any info on ILS Jukjeon?
« on: June 16, 2020, 08:46:04 am »
Hi!

I've been looking for info on this hagwon for about a week and have been unable to find anything, I was wondering if anyone has any experiences (good or bad) with this place or knows anyone who has?

Thank you!

I worked there from 2011 to 2013.
Compared to most schools, it seemed like a wayyyyy better arrangement than most. They definitely work you hard but that's Korean Culture. We used to work from 8:30-6 some days and 8:30-7:30 on others. You get a lunch break (provided) and a prep shifts, sometimes too. We had about 10 foreign teachers when I was there and 4 Korean teaching assistants.  There were lots of adorable field trips.

The apartments were large single rooms (I had an actual bedroom - but that was rare).  Pay was 2.1million plus 1 month bonus at the end of the contract, and paid flights both ways. I don't think that is still offered.

I worked at an ILS and we used to finish at 5 on Tuesday/Thursdays and 6:30 the other days.  We also didn't start until 9:30.  Of the 5 foreign teachers no one was making less than 2.3 and it ranged up.  I have to disagree with the above poster stating "Compared to most schools, it seemed like a wayyyyy better arrangement than most."  I would say in fact it seems like a job that was wayyyy worse than a lot of other ILS arrangements.  8:30 to 7:30?  Makes a job at a Poly look good.
