Do you always wear protection?
« on: June 10, 2020, 07:38:45 am »
I'm considering working a sunblock into my morning routine, but not sure I can justify the added expense.

I don't have super fair skin or anything, I just don't want to look like a haggard bum when I'm older.

So what's the consensus these days? Is it even necessary, considering I spend most of my time indoors? Any reputable/affordable products out there?

Preferably without a skin whitening agent. I prefer to look as tanned as possible  8)

Just wear a hat! Sunscreen isn't that great for your skin anyways.

No, it's not. Sunblock here is used daily because of the cultural obsession with lighter skin.

If you work inside all day, some sunshine will do you good.

Do you wear sunscreen in your home country on the daily? Then why do it here?
Haven't you got some pictures of birds to be jacking off to, son?

Depending on you genetics, the term "malignant melanoma" might apply to the wearing of sunblock or not.

Harder to pick up the babes when you have chunks of your facial skin missing.

Yes, I would consider the cancer thing if it is something that runs in your family or you have the right skin to increase your chances......skin cancer isn't a joke...it can prove deadly too.....but you still do need sun and vitamin d etc...sun can also help your mood, heal bruises and has other benefits

I've learned my lesson from my teens and early 20s, and I now wear sunblock everyday (rain or shine)! I spent those years surfing back home and oftentimes neglected the sunblock.

I have light tan skin, but my skin seems to burn or get damaged quite easily and I'm seeing the damage now from those years. I had an IPL treatment, in Korea, to get rid of some of the sunspots and it was somewhat successful. My wife has the most flawless skin you could imagine and she swears it's the result of putting on sunblock everyday, since she was 13. Could just be genetics, I dunno.

Over time, regular sunscreen use doesn't really limit your vitamin D intake, unless you're a hikikomori or something.

My facial moisturizer, which I put on every morning has an SPF of 15 which I think protects my skin enough.  I do go walking long hours some weekend days but for the time I'm out in the sun on a weekday I think it's enough to have 15 in my moisturizer.  It's a Neutrogena one that I either pick up when in Canada or the states or get on Amazon.

Nice try OP.  I walk around and teach in a hazmat suit nowadays so no real need to wear protection. I could use a smidge of talc down there though if you catch my drift.

Thanks, but I can't take credit for inventing it.  I did coin the phrase "Konglish is wronglish", though.

I like to use Beyond Oh My sunscreen. The bottle is pretty small but the quality is good. It doesn't whiten your skin and it's good for those with sensitive skin. You can get it from Olive Young.

Sunblock every day is a worldwide thing, not just a Korea thing. Putting on just a little every day keeps your skin healthy. It has nothing to do with keeping your skin white.

I bought a golf uv umbrealla.  I went to some really high mountains 1200 to 1600 meters.  Lovely in summer.  Cool breezes, no humidity, but sun is hot and I get a bad sunburn.  So, I will bring this with me.  No ajumma umbrella though.  Got at Costco 24000 won or so.

Sunblock every day is a worldwide thing, not just a Korea thing. Putting on just a little every day keeps your skin healthy. It has nothing to do with keeping your skin white.

In 28 years of life in the UK I have never heard of anyone putting sun cream on every day. It is something you use when you are going to be spending a lot of time outside (beach, gardening, golf, etc etc...)

People in Korea do not want dark skin. Wearing sun cream helps keep your skin whiter. It has everything to do with keeping your skin white in Korea.
