..and to think, that salary listed is BEFORE deductions. 

1.8...after legal deductions and utilities, is more like 1.5 million a month.  When that is converted to $US, it comes to $1224...for a 40 hour work week.

Why would folks think Korea is worth that, is beyond me.  There must be some sort of mental retardation. 

and that 1.5 is without housing. they only provide a " small housing allowance " so that 1.5 would need to make up the difference in housing. so shoe box sized house and making just over 15 grand a year. all for a bachelor's degree holder....

This is just one example of how thankful I am, to not be going back to Korea (at least for now).

i've worked with the YBM adult division a lot and have had a good time. but that's for part-time F-visa jobs. their E2 visa jobs and F visa jobs seem like completely different worlds

I've never seen hagwon offers this dismal before. Can we deduce it's because the virus has crippled their income? Or are they just wising up to the fact that young graduates are so miserable in their own countries that they'll take pretty much anything?

A lot of foreigners have lost their jobs at academies because of the virus, people are very desperate right now so I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ones who take this job.

Is that before or after deductions?

Before deductions is about, or just under, $10 an hour.  Were I live, minimum wage is $12 an hour. 

AFTER deductions, let's say 2.2....(including housing costs)....would be about 1.8 (utilities, maintt. fee)...that comes to $1,466 a month...just a bit over $9 an hour.

I sincerely hope folks are paying attention  to the exchange rate..at least, Americans.  For the neighbors to the north, the exchange rate is in their favor.
