Re: How will China repay the World?

Research carried out by a team at Southampton University found that if the Chinese authorities had introduced a range of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) – such as early detection, case isolation and travel restrictions – three weeks earlier than it did, cases would have been reduced by 95%. That would have meant listening to the doctors like Dr. Li Wenliang who first raised the alarm in December, not arresting them and forcing them to confess to “spreading rumours” and “making untrue comments”.

It’s not as if the Chinese authorities weren’t aware of the dangers posed by coronavirus. As Niall Ferguson pointed out in the Boston Globe, once it become clear that it was spreading from Wuhan to the rest of Hubei province, China restricted air travel from Hubei to other parts of China on January 23rd but not from Hubei to the rest of the world. As Andrew Sullivan wrote, “It’s as if the Chinese Community Party leaders said to themselves, ‘Well, we’re going under, so we might as well bring the rest of the world down with us.'”

First, they tried to suppress the truth and then they knowingly let the rest of the world be exposed.

Therefore, the CCP leaders and their minion, Tedros need to be tried for crimes against humanity.  They should be hung, drawn and quartered like they would have in the good old days. Guess that is even too good for them.

I call BS on all this (not you, the argument to blame China).

The entire world already knew about the cases in China and the spread.  They had weeks to prevent it from coming into
their countries but nobody closed their borders, nobody stopped planes and foreigners from coming into their country
especially from China.

I remember clearly when all the cases were exclusively just in China and the rest of the world was making jokes and mocking asians
about it on tiktok.   Why do people have such short memories?

During that time I remember clearly thinking to myself, why are these idiots allowed to mock and make prank videos on youtube and tiktok about the coronavirus in China?  It's serious.  People were dying but westerners found it amusing to take advantage of and make idiotic yt and tiktok videos to just get views and maybe some cashed in on their videos for it.

So they clearly had time and could have prevented it from entering their borders.  It's their fault for not restricting their borders and doing more screening as if they thought it was never going to reach them?   Once the virus spread mad around the world, suddenly all the jokes seem to disappear and the nations that made those videos also seem to be the worst hit.....karma is a bee atch!

Fruitloops, you sound like you are part of the CCP's 50 cent army.  It's not BS, many other sources have said the same thing. Sure some places were slow to react but the fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the CCP and Tedros. They knew about human to human transmission, Taiwan told them in December already, yet they delayed the announcement and allowed millions of Chinese to leave Wuhan for the Chinese New Year and spread the virus far and wide.

Remember... the WHO said, no need to stop tourists from China and China bleated  that banning their tourists was racist. Seems you are the one with the short memory.

Pretty easy to blame China, and their incompetent red guard. But the French patient #1 might have been back in December. If true, then the virus was probably around much longer than thought. And perhaps did not originate in China.

"How does this change what we know about the pandemic? It might be that the test result is an error and so does not change a thing.

But it if is correct, it could mean spread of the disease was going unchecked in Europe while all eyes were on the East in Wuhan."

I was just going to mention that case in France. It seems to have circulating in California from early January, too.

Careful people, these early cases throw wrenches into the talking points of various political groups who want to blame other countries/people for the current state of things.

The hardest thing for the homo sapien to do seems to be to accept that an act of nature is due to nature and not homo sapiens.

Ouch, your comment didn't age well.
