Think I'll stick to these thread as I suppose it's the right one.  Even though I've always loved naturey things, getting out and taking walks a lot has really tweaked my interest in the things i see out and about. 

Last weekend, I saw this little fellow, not particularly big but as a Mamushi, quite venomous. 



And another one of my chili dragonflies...



On my walk on Saturday, I hear this beautiful bird but have never seen it.  It has about 50 different songs and I waited to get a snap of it so I could identify it.  It's called a black-naped oriole.



Actually, looking at the pictures, the first has a dragonfly next to him and in the other picture he seems to be eating it.

It's the kind of bird I remember hearing on 'Neighbours' when they cut to the street scenes on Ramsey Street.

I have seen that bird once too. I saw a wild pheasant at a park a few weeks ago. that was wild! Any chance you know what bird the sort of cerulean blue/gray ones are? the females are just gray, maybe the size of an american robin? they might have black on their face. I haven't seen one recently, just hear them at home often.  I have tried looking it up but have had no luck. 2 were feeding babies in a tree next to my window. it was awesome!

I saw a pheasant too..  But too far away to get a decent shot.  Knowing how they always fly off making a ton of noise, I think if they flew away quietly and with less kerfuffle, then maybe they wouldn't get killed.   



And this dragonfly too on Saturday.  Looks a bit raggedy.



Sometimes, for our family zoom chats we have a photo challenge.  But when it comes to a nature photo challenge, my family say it isn't really fair.  Their British snails and cows against my dragonflies and snakes.

Usually, I grab a stick of bamboo or something light at the start of my walk and hold it like a light-saber in front of me to catch those spider webs that are across the path!     Too many times have I got a face full of web and spider.     It means I can enjoy the walk, although these days with the rain, I have to look down so I don't step on the frogs in the path. 

This dude was cool enough to let me snap him...  I've seen him all week, he doesn't do much, so I call him 'Alan Parkinson' when I see him.

What am I doing during these strange virus times?

Making plans to eat healthy, study Korean, and exercise.....

Actually putting these plans in motion....maybe that's for later

Last weekend was excellent for taking photos.  There are some many insects and birds out now and they're very photogenic which is great.  Bear in mind these are all very close to my house as with the other ones I've taken.  Also, I've sussed my macro on my camera, so can get better photos.






Then my two absolute favourites.

And this last one.  I'll add a back story to this one.  I saw this owl last year, but it flew off before I could take a picture.  The wingspan is about 2 metres, so it's an adult and I also know that owls can live for 10 years in the wild, so I know it's the same one.  But on Saturday morning he was sat on this branch a good 100 metres away and it was a good spot to see it. 




After the owl, I think I can give up taking photos.  Amazing animal.

Got out a lot at the weekend with the lovely air.  Saturday was a particularly nice day to get out.

How I know that summer is pretty much here.  The cicadas buzzing on Saturday were very loud.



I'm a little disappointed about this one as it's slightly out of focus.  But this frog froze in this position for about 2 minutes.

Looks like a toad.  And you watched it for two minutes?  Are there some mushrooms growing on that mountain that you nibble from on occasion?  Directions, please. 

I actually saw a snake at Gakwonsa. Only the second snake I've seen in 7 years here.

Probably is.  Nature interests me a lot.  And as for mushrooms, there seemed to be a lot of these black ones.  Thing is they were glistening and shiny.  Doubt they'd be good for you, and I've never been confident enough to identify edible mushrooms.  Black?  No way!

I snapped this guy on Saturday.  I call him Dennis Benton.



And last month.  I noticed this kind of 'snow' on some branches and trees near where I walk.



Then a couple of weeks after I saw this really weird insect.  (this is not my picture, as I can't seem to find it on my device at school  )



And I showed it to an English teacher in my school and he said it's called a 천사벌레 and that it is a massive pest.  That white stuff is dangerous to the plants and kills them.  Then I noticed all the moths/butterflies on the branches.



They were absolutely everywhere.  Thousands on all the trees in that area.



It's weird because the thing that excreted the white stuff looks so different to, what I thought was moths or butterflies.  When I walk there now there's tons of blue butterflies flying around.  If you google 미국선녀벌레, it tells you about them and how much of a pest they are. 

Looks like Mr. Benton will be eating good for a while at least!
