Here is my version of bingo that i am going to play for the second lesson.
I am going to make everyone take a turn in picking the answer out of the bag, and they have to say the answer so that it covers the speaking part of the game

Here is a power point I made for Lesson 4.  I borrowed some materials from other posters, and added tongue twisters and adjective exercises.

This is other ppt using " How ___" !!

with all due respect, please post ppt's that make sense :)  I don't think teaching my students "how tall tower," or "how big city" will help to improve their english level~

My co-t blasted right through lesson 3 (chapter 3) so - I have to quickly write an outline and lesson plan for Chapter 4 - any help with anyone who already has this done - would be greatly appreciated -

I am modidfy it once I get it - I just wondering if anyone has it done already otherwise I'll just plow through it - I'm a little brain dead today - yeah monday.

Here is a pass the ball for lesson 4.  I focused on most of the keywords from the first section.  I did add the words ugly and handsome (I'm tired of the students saying "Teacher, you are handsome"...I'm a girl.lol).  In case you wanted to do
something besides the Slap game provided in the book.  Hope this helps someone.  Feel free to spruce it up.  I threw it together kind of quickly.  I don't remember who I got the original template from, but thanks!  I used the music from that one.
Oh and you might want to change the picture on the SHORT slide.  It's me and my friend.

These are great! I was having such a hard time thinking up lessons and games for "What a nice day!", so these help so much!  :D

I was thinking of doing Little Red Riding Hood for story time, instead of the one from the book, since she uses "What big teeth you have" and other statements like these a lot; but I haven't tried it out yet so I don't know how well it will work.

Another related song from 'icnelly.'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvDhZ0U9tXM

Revamp the song to include negative adjectives such as:

yucky day, it's so terrible
ugly smile, it's so horrible

Here is a nice warm up for the start of the lesson! I used some of the powerpoints from rhetoric-THANK YOU-.

Basically it is just the "What a Wonderful World" song and the target language for this lesson.

As rhetoric stated in his post, you need to go through the first part of the ppt to see when to click through.

Hope it helps some people!

These are for period 2.

Just an intro/review .ppt modified from an earlier post. Also something extra for Look and Speak. My kids get cards every time they answer a question in class, so for this activity you just reveal the part of the dialog they remember and give them a card. I usually do this after one or two listens and ask general questions first.

Here is another simple homework sheet. There are 8 photos - have students write 8 sentences describing the photos. Eg: What a tall tower, What a long car. If your students are more advanced you can remove the words that are included under the pictures. I have done 4 to a page to save paper.

Grade 5: What a nice Day (Period 2)
« Reply #54 on: April 12, 2011, 03:19:25 pm »
Hey guys

Here's my small contribution. Pretty much textbook stuff. In the first 10 min of the lesson I will use this vid to stimulate a bit of conversation and some questions/answers.

1) Play video "Another Sunny Day" :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CPLNyopyOg&feature=related

Ask questions about what is in the story.

Q: Why is it a nice day? A: Sunny, people are happy, nature, clear skies, flowers, birds, cat and people playing soccer.  )

Q: Which parts show the not nice days, give examples. A: Raining and Iceberg (Ice/snow).

Can use vocab learnt in previous lesson (beautiful flowers/ nice weather/ small house)

2) Listen and Speak (pg 46)(pg 124)

3) Look and speak (pg 46)(pg 125)

4) Let's chant (pg 47)(pg 126)

Peace

This is about 30 seconds long... It's a clip of the song "What a Good Boy", with lyrics at the bottom of the screen. Lyrics are:

When I was born, they looked at me and said,
"What a good boy!
What a smart boy!
What a strong boy!
When you were born, they looked at you and said,
"What a good girl!
What a smart girl!
What a pretty girl!"

It's not the whole song; I didn't want to overwhelm them. Anyway, I was going to use it to introduce the chapter to my classes, and make a sheet with the lyrics (minus the adjectives) for the students to fill out.

I posted a Pass the Ball game earlier that went along with Lesson 1 in the book.  It was very simple.  I fixed some things and revised some animation effects.  Here you go.  Simple game but the kids liked it.

Matching game.  Click the box to show a picture.  Click the "don't" symbol (circle with line through it) to cover it back up.  If the two pictures match, the student(s) have to make a sentence ("What an ugly dog!" etc).

I used this last year.  I didn't make it, so it probably came from MediaFire.  I may have modified it, but I don't remember.  (I'm not sure if I changed the background or if it came that way.)
