Re: Grade 5 Index some extra vocab plus a bingo game

Here is a ppt with some extra vocab for higher level students. For the game, each student can get a bingo sheet (there are 2 different sheets). The teacher can then describe people and students can try to get bingo!

Here's a fun way of introducing this topic with Superheros. It's all in the ppt.

This is for the second period of lesson 7.
I used to have sts say the sentence by memorizing the sentence they heard in the dialog.

I used the Brady Bunch song with my class. They seemed to enjoy it.

I would like to share all of my files for this lesson. I hope they can be used in some way for the 2012 school year. Included are the following:

-Period 1 warm up
-Vocabulary ppt (incl. spelling)
-Reviews for periods 2, 4, and 5 (worksheet included for period 5 review)
-Guess Who game (group game; use with white boards--very popular)
-End of lesson wrap up

Boggle for Storytime:

Students must get into groups of 3 - 5. They must find all the possible words from Storytime on each slide. Letters can be used more than once, but the words MUST be from Storytime. Words must be 3 letters or more. Words, such as (the, and) do count. The group with the most words will get 2 points, second place gets 1 point, per slide.

Character Guessing Game:

T - print out slides or Word document as characters for the game.

Rules to explain to the students:
1. I will give you a person.
2. DO NOT LOOK AT THE PERSON!
3. When I say, “GO!,” you turn around. Your partner tapes the person to your back.
4. When I say, “GO!,” ask four friends to describe you.
5. Write your descriptions.
6. Guess who you are!
7. When you finish, please sit down. DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR PERSON.
