« on: February 21, 2020, 01:50:55 pm »

This seems to be mostly mild infection but is very tenacious in its infection
ability.

...why are most of the answers below the number of infected that've already been confirmed?

Wow, OK.  We've reached the second tier. 1,001-10,000.

This flu is just a pain in the ass.  It should be called the "diaper" flu.

It doesn't scare me in the least.

Easy not to be scared when you aren't elderly or immuno-compromised. But then some people are just me me me.

Yeah, it really takes a medical expert to realize such diseases are more dangerous to the elderly and immuno-compromised.

Not aimed at anybody who has posted in this thread but this situation has brought out the worst examples of the medical expert.  Read any virus post on Facebook and spot the sanctimonious foreigner sneering at other people for wearing masks.

"Don't you know that masks are 0% effective??!!"
"I was the only person on the bus the other day not wearing a mask.  Got some funny looks LOL!!!"
"It's just the flu BRO."

Like everyone else on the planet, we've all heard that masks are probably not very effective but it makes me feel better when I wear one and if anything it stops you touching your nose and mouth directly.  It might make other people feel better to see you wearing a mask and even if you have the virus it might stop you from infecting someone.  Wear a mask!

He's got your, there.

I'm pretty fluent in the language of Chinese state run media, allow me to translate:

Wuhan fatality rate is between 2% and 4%
(translation)
Wuhan fatality rate is between 10% and 15%

The infection rate in China is under control

I think the number are actually much lower than the official stated numbers ... because some people get it but didn't even know they had it because they are in good health.

This is overblown hysteria.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_US_beef_protest_in_South_Korea

Air pollution is a bigger threat.

Kills thousands a year.

Last I read, 60 Americans are known to have caught the virus. 0 died.

93 Singaporeans tested positive. 0 died.

Over 20,000 Americans die every year from an influenza virus that mutates every year.

The flu is a tenth as deadly but far more widespread and resilient.

This latest virus might become a cold or flu that sticks around forever.

The best line of defense: be healthy.

Once I became healthy I stopped getting colds or sicknesses ever.

Stop eating crap food; eat only healthy food.

Exercise.

Get sufficient sleep.

Stay away from second hand smoke.

Do these things and you'll probably never be sick again.

Also, reducing stress helps a bit.

And fasting is good for boosting the immune system.

Stop eating for a while.

Your body will thank you.

Harvard University epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch is predicting the coronavirus "will ultimately not be containable" and, within a year, will infect somewhere between 40 and 70 percent of humanity, The Atlantic reports. But don't be too alarmed. Many of those people, Lipsitch clarifies, won't have severe illnesses or even show symptoms at all, which is already the case for many people who have tested positive for the virus.

https://theweek.com/speedreads/898566/lori-loughlins-attorney-claims-new-evidence-proves-innocence

The Atlantic reports Lipsitch is definitely not alone in his prediction. There's an emerging consensus that the outbreak will eventually morph into a new seasonal disease, which, per The Atlantic, could one day turn "cold and flu season" into "cold and flu and COVID-19 season."

Eat fruit to prepare for the fight.

Vitamin c (natural not supplement pill forms) fights viruses and has been repeatedly proven to reduce the length of illness (not prevent infection but help the immune system combat the virus).

Fresh bell pepper (tastes good with gouda or brie), a small container of blueberries and a few tangerines I've had today, and tomorrow I'll have a full head of fresh crunchy broccoli for lunch with a yummy dip.

Get ready for the storm.
