Mobile phone authentication

Does anyone think that the new trend toward mobile phone authentication is going too far in Korea?

Here's an example of how nuts its becoming.

This store requires it for example:

Quote
mobile phone authentication is required for store visiting.
However, if you are a member, you only need to go through the mobile phone authentication every time you sell. If you don't have a mobile phone, you can't sell it. Is to ensure the legality of the purchase evidence (Article 116 corporation tax).

Simply showing your ARC card should be enough. Plenty of foreigners do not have phones in their name in Korea!

Besides, I hate giving out my number because it attracts more spam calls.
Catch my drift?
