Social media for Korean 40somethings
« on: January 19, 2020, 11:15:31 am »
What a great resource this forum is. Wealth of knowledge about the country I spent a lot of time in in the late 90s.  Seems like Seoul has changed quite a bit.

What social sites or apps are most used by Koreans my age (mid 40s).  Seems naver is popular.  Any others? Seems easy eniugh to get a naver account, is it intuitive to search for folks on it? I'm an old fart!

“Intuitive” and “Korean website” don’t really go together.

How’s your Korean?
Specifically, how is  your colloquial typed Korean?

I think Band is pretty popular here.  My Korean soccer team used it and I know mom's often ask us if we have a Band group.

My Korean is non-existent, lol.  I've tried Band but every time input the verification code it sends, it tells.me an account can't be created. Hmm.

I thought Naver had a lot of promise but I'm finding the cafes very hard to search

Sorry, more of a question than a response, but why do I have this idea in my head that there is or was some sort of social media/alumni app popular in Korea called I Love School or something like that??

If they're under 70, your best chance of finding them is just to search on Facebook.
