I've heard some interesting rumors over the years about the owner being a cop in Texas or something.

Actually, he is/was a cop in FLORIDA!

But... but... what will happen with all those books?

The story refers to books seen through the window.

Gawd, I'd stand in line for a blowout sale.

I really had no idea it closed.

I got up to the second floor via the elevator (knee hurts, due to running on treadmill) and was greeted with the welcoming sign, which states their hours of operation...but nothing was open.  I thought perhaps it was simply closed to due the holidays or construction purposes.

Phuck....a few good books would have been a nice flavor.  Now, I'm stuck with phucking Kyobo.

TBH this is pretty typical of life in Korea. Go to some excellent store or restaurant day in and day out, it's packed and prosperous, then one day it just disappears overnight with no explanation. So many good restaurants in Korea did this to me. RIP pizza place in Daegu that had Birra Morretti Doppio Malto and really good pizza for like 8000 won.

If you're able to get to Cheonan there is a really cool used bookstore near the Shinsegae. It's under some Australian pub if I remember correctly. I'll get the name from my friend and post it later if anyone is interested.

No, this one is pretty much only English books. It's on the  Shinsegae side and down a ways from Aladdin I think.

Yeah that's it. They may have altered their name since the last time I went. It's in the basement of the building under an Aussie pub (if it's still there). They have tons of books, some almost brand new.

If you're happy shopping online I recommend bookdepository.com. Free delivery worldwide, it can be slow but I've always received my orders.

I saw posts on Facebook a couple of months ago about WTB being closed. No one seems to know why or what happened to the books. They didn't announce they were closing either.  :-[

Are people seriously shocked and angry that a brick and mortar store, competing with an instant delivery digital platform, as well as that platform's global shipping, as well as a domestic delivery company, located in a high-rent district, catering to a niche market, went out of business?

Got a lot of use from WTB over the years at all three locations but since I got an ipad a couple of years ago I just go the e-book route, although I do missing browsing a bookstore.

Also, in Itaewon yesterday I noticed Boots and Canucks are gone.

How many Taco Bells are left?  They didn't seem to last long but I went to one at an outlet mall last week.  They can't all be gone.
