Scariest book
« on: October 28, 2019, 03:55:29 pm »
Halloween will soon be upon us. I had such great fun in Korea with my Korean colleagues and the students during Halloween.

In keeping with this, what's the scariest book you've ever read.

Me...hands down "The Exorcist"

Thomas Ligotti - My Work is Not Yet Done
Ira Levin - Rosemary's Baby
Joe Lansdale - The Nightrunners (despite some annoying stylistic tics, the horror elements are really effective)
Mark Z. Danieleweski - House of Leaves

And I'll throw in a couple of Thomas Ligotti short stories - "Purity" from Teatro Grottesco and "The Frolic" from Songs of a Dead Dreamer.
