Working in Government holidays with pay!
« on: October 09, 2019, 11:55:13 am »
Hi Friends!

I am not complaing to anyone.
Just might be for my ignorance about Korean law and culture.
May be as an "Native English Teacher" you are facing other issues.
My case is different.

While working in Korean company as an Engineer, current company said " you have to work in holidays" " if you wont work you wont get payment"!!
Question is how it comes according to labour law?

Does the policy depend on company to company?

Regards

“Currently, public holidays are not mandatory holidays for private companies. It is up to an employer to grant them to employees or not.

Whether to make the public holidays paid or unpaid is also up to the employer. Usually, most companies in Korea, except for small ones, voluntarily grant public holidays as paid holidays to employees.

However, public holidays will become mandatory paid holidays by law from the year 2020. Article 55 of the Labor Standards Act (LSA) has a detailed schedule.”
