« on: August 12, 2019, 07:09:06 pm »
Here is an amazing new site with tons of interactive activities for English teachers to use in class. I really hope this helps some people and would love to know what you think of my work.

How would you use it in class? Students work on it individually?

I normally do it as a group with the screen projected onto the white board. It really depends on the activity though as some I have them do in small groups of just 2 teams. Here is a little video about how I use the Jeopardy games in class.

Great website! Thank you so much for creating it - it's really well made and super helpful! ^^  I will definitely be using it in my after school classes this semester.

Just a little heads up - the link for the "Around town" section under the "Travel" part doesn't seem to work at the moment.  https://s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/wordsets/places+around+town+final+(Web)/index.html

Thanks again!!

Wow thanks so much for all the kind comments. I have been working on this all by myself for a couple of years and it's always good to hear that people appreciate your work.

Remember please help me make the site better. If you want to see more of a certain activity (music, videos, vocab, grammar, etc) please let me know. All requests are welcome.

This is absolutely fantastic mate! This is the 1st lesson of the year sorted, I'll let you know how it went. Immediately off the bat I could say that I am interested in seeing a deductive grammar exercise which students can do individually. Quite possibly something having to do with the present perfect tense, for instance: read a text, highlight all the present perfect tenses and it would really give me a raging hard-on if the students had to motivate why the present perfect tense was needed in the sentences.

The movie bits are awesome, they're a great starter, but let me get around finding a similar site I vaguely remember before you head out and work yourself to death.

From your site:

I'm going to use these for my lower forms:
Speaking

Grammar
https://s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/grammaresl/Verb+Tenses/Verb+Tenses+Basic+4+(Web)/index.html

This one for year 4:
https://gamesesl.s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/Conversations/conversation+game+-+asking+questions+open+style+(Web)/index.html

And this one for the upper forms:
https://gamesesl.s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/Conversations/The+conversation+game+-+answering+questions+(Web)/index.html

I was struggling to think of something fun to play with my 5th graders for our first lesson back. Definitely using this. Thank you! It's awesome.

Hey~~

This is fantastic, thank you so much for taking the huge amount of time to create this site! I will definitely be using it with my students throughout this semester.

Just a note, however, the Scattergories for kids Game 1 all link to the wrong A-Z lists; for example, when I clicked on 'Fruits' the list was for 'Places'. Also when I went to Game 2 of Scattergories for kids and clicked on the 'Places' list and then clicked on the 'back' arrow, it took me back to Game 1, not Game 2.

Seriously, thank you again for taking the time to do this.

Thanks for the heads up the links are now fixed and I will create the rest of the a-z lists soon.

Remember if you see any other errors please let me know.

I liked the phrasal verb exercises and especially the video synonyms.

Is there any chance you might be willing to add Cambridge CAE idioms to the site?
It needn't be overly fancy, I liked your scaffolding setup, so a bit like that but then with CAE test materials of which I can link you many if you need them.

Thanks for the feedback. I will take a look at the list but I think I have already started doing it in my Idioms section on the site. Take a look and let me know if it's what you are looking for.

Bump

Thanks heaps mate, I'm using your site actually to bring a few absolute beginners to a level where they start to speak and write English outside my class. I started with a reading site eslfast and your site's Basic Verbs.

Any more tips on how you would go about using your site to help beginners to get going real fast? I got highly gifted kids so they pick up things fast but I've got 2 of them who are aged 10 and they skipped 3 years and are attending middle school now. One of them keeps banging his head repeatedly and the other just simply whimpers silently for the entire hour, so they need to do this somewhere alone outside class because their class is almost Advanced level.
