You may think it's bad but Japan is even worse.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Is it really so hard to find freelance / tutoring gigs?

If anything, I would have thought they'd have increased due to parents keeping their kids out of schools and hogwons.

According to what some are saying on here, there should now be more work available to those in-country.
The tutoring in the US I've seen is being done on-line and pays peanuts.
The death rate for kids from Covid19 is lower than normal flu, get a grip.
In one state where the teacher's union offers free wills as a benefit, 3,000 teachers just signed up. The kids might recover, but what about the adults they infect?

Uhhh he's in Korea, dimbulb.

i'm american and haven't been able to get work since this pandemic started.  if i go back to america will i be able to get unemployment + backpay for all these months like that other guy?  i've lived in korea for 20 years and haven't been back all that time.  i really can't risk going back just to apply for unemployment and then getting denied.  plus i'm married here in korea, but I have to try something because at some point the money will be gone and we'll be homeless.
Catch my drift?

Alright yeah, can't argue with that. Didn't realise you were coming from a parent's point of view, and I was coming from a policy point of view.

Yeah it's a tough problem - people need to earn a living, and often don't have the luxury or means to be picky with where they work. That said, as sh*t as capitalism is it's a million times better than living in a socialist hellhole. What I think we should be doing: reform the banking sector, go back to the gold standard, stop the Federal Reserve from interfering in the market and change the way we measure our economies / GDP. I think the last one will be the most effective and easiest to implement - I recommend a book called 'The Growth Delusion' if you're interested in this.

I thought the Soviet Union was a true socialist paradise.  Perhaps, the Soyviet Union (CHAZ / CHAD) in Portland will make a comeback?  Happy days are here again.
