Question for savvy Amazon users
« on: April 18, 2019, 02:24:47 pm »
I'm actually making my first order and I have the PCCC # and I see it says only Korean citizen's can use this # and has a box to click.  What do you do at this stage?  Just click that you're a citizen and hope for the best or is there a step I'm missing?

Thanks.

Think it's something like this...  I did my 5-HTP from Coupang

Quote
1.  https://m.customs.go.kr/pms/html/mos/extr/MOS0101053S.do Fill in your name and ARC number. (Put your name the way it is on your ARC no spaces, all caps)

2.  You will then be asked to input your date of birth (all together no spaces ex. 19901016), phone carrier and phone number.

3.  They will text you a code that has to be inputted within 5 minutes of receiving. (ex. 000000)

4.  Your name will be verified. Fill in your address ( I searched mine using my zip code instead of typing the whole thing), Email, Phone number, etc (I used to google translate to take a picture and translate the sections).

5.  You should receive your PCCC code. (ex. P000000000000)

(stolen from reddit)

you are technically a 'citizen'

Ah, ok, thanks.  I guess I'll click the Korean citizen box.  Pretty big moment for me to make a first Amazon order AND gain a second citizenship.  If I get drafted into the Army you're going to hear about it though.

I've just provided my passport number and that seemed to work. I've made several orders from Amazon.

Oh really?  I didn't try that but was under the impression I needed that PCCC number.  I guess I'll find out soon enough if that worked.

i've done it both ways.  when I ordered something from Gmarket, I just sent my full name and passport number to the seller, that was enough.  but then got a Kakaotalk when it arrived in Korea the first couple of times asking me to visit a site to input the details again.  when I did with coupang recently it was the PCCC number, which is all in Korean (you can use google translate on the page if you're not sure)  you can't proceed without the PCCC.  frustrating the first time.

I just ordered some things on Amazon to be shipped to SK and it said not to use your passport number or anything personal. I just used my customs code and the persons on the receiving end, since they're not me, will get a call from customs, explain and then get their packages. Don't forget that the $150 customs limit includes shipping.

BTW, it makes no sense to me that they give foreigners a customs code and then they tell you not to use it.
