Hungary is clearly #1 in colorectal cancer. South Korea is clearly #2.

I grew up with a Hungarian father cook of the household; I have lived and gorged on Korean food for the last 19 years.

I. Am. F***ed!

I will simply nod when the doctor informs me. ...

Though,...  I have in my fifties tried to go "never add salt", eat meat only once a week or so when Korean friends want to, no dairy, eat the equivalent of two bananas a day for fiber (hate the bowel effects of this). Am not far from saying f it! But i sip herbal tea at work and snack on nuts cuz research shows such good results (a smartphone can be smart if used to surf for info instead of for playing games and watching videos.) Ugh.

Eat 2 kinds of fruit and drink 2 L of water daily.

An 87 year old gave me that advice 24 years ago. I think she may have been right.

Beets are actually good in stew.

Who knew?

I traditionally didn't like them.  But had to improvise this past weekend.  Actually pretty good.  Learn something new everyday.  Little known fact.
Happy Teachers Day to New Orleans.

Beets are a stable in borscht, which is wildly popular in the predominantly Russian Doukhobor town I lived in.
Main, that stuff was *amazing*.
I used to mow the lawn of my 80 year old neighbour in return for a big jug of that stuff. Wish I still could today!

If you're looking for a good recipe involving beets, a lot of Ukrainian and Russian recipes use them.

Love beets.

Never have cooked them just ordered them at every opportunity.

Like rutabaga.

The nitrates in beets are supposedly why it's a superfood for athletes.

I use to hate them as a kid.  But I when I put it in the stew with the beef and the other veggies it gave a nice balance and was quit surprisingly good.  If I had of found rutabega, I prob would never have tried the beet root.  Glad I did.  I will check the Russian and Ukraine recipes.

https://www.sciencefocus.com/science/how-much-horsepower-does-a-horse-have/

Horse effort can be measured in horse power.  And it is far more than 1 HP for a single horse.

“How much horsepower does a horse have?
Watt’s estimates were fairly accurate: one horsepower is roughly the average rate of work a healthy draught horse can do over a full day, confirmed by data from the 1925 Iowa State Fair and by English veterinary surgeon William Youatt.

In 1993, biologists R. D. Stevenson and R. J. Wassersug published a letter to Nature in which they estimated the maximum power output a horse can muster. Previous studies had shown that the maximum sustainable mechanical power per kilogram of muscle is between 100 and 200W. Using the lower bound, they calculated a theoretical peak performance of 18,000W, or around 24 horsepower.

Looking at data from the 1925 Iowa State Fair, they found a much lower real-world value. Over a short period of time, they calculate, a horse can exert up to 14.9 horsepower.“

This may be a little-known fact:

(I don't know which other mod did it, but ...) It is a longstanding practice to split threads if a significant side discussion happens or to "clean up" threads to keep discussion on topic.

It was me! I did it! Sorry!

But seriously, I binned a few political comments before they could hijack this thread as they often tend to do. I apologize for not splitting the topic or moving them to an existing one, but couldn't think of an appropriate place to put them... aside from where they ended up, that is.

New Kimchi is the best.  헷김치.  Not sure if I am spelling that right.  But, I am told that is what it is.  My Thursday school has loaded up on this.  I gobbled it down like a garbage disposal in the sink taking all the refuse.  The other regular kimchi I barely touch.  But that new stuff, just inject it into my veins directly.
Happy Teachers Day to New Orleans.

What is new kimchi?

Is it fresh kimchi?
(recently made, not "old kimchi")

I assume not, as fresh kimchi vs. old kimchi has been a debate for a long time. But,... the Internet has alternative expressions galore!

The increase in heart attacks this year in athletes is because of the lack of exercise and definitely not the vaccine.

World Ecommunist Forum sounds legit.

I like how even that shitty source image you put up as a source just says "collapsed" yet in your telling it becomes "heart attack".
