DUI in America (9years ago) - want to teach in China

Is it possible to get a work permit in China if I had a DUI 9 years ago and it shows on my FBI background check? I see so many conflicting answers online. Hopefully someone can answer that for me. Other than that my record is clean.  I appreciate it.

If you work for a Chinese school on the ball enough to actually request or look at your background check, please hire me.

It's not the school who gives the visas.  Everything I'm reading says I need a Z Visa to teach English in China legally.  Plus all schools and centers require the background check that I've been applying to.  I want to be 100% legal and my FBI background check shows a DUI from 9 years ago.  Otherwise my record is clean.  Seems no one on any site can tell me if a DUI will prevent me from getting a work visa.  Online is showing a bunch of mixed answers as well.
