Drawing on Head Game

This is an early listening activity where the students draw a 2x3 grid in their notebooks and follow the directions to draw a picture in the correct square.

There are 2 rounds. Round 1 is simply the students listening to the instructions and drawing. Round 2 involves the students drawing a new grid then putting their notebooks on their heads. From there they listen to the instructions and draw while their notebooks on on their heads.

Round 1 practices the relevent building name vocabulary from the book and round 2 does not. Drawing buildings on the top of their heads is difficult so more easily drawn words are used in round 2.

This is 0 prep and round 2 is usually a hit in all but the most melancholy classrooms.

I've included a set of picture cards as well. A large set for teacher use and a set of smaller cards that can be printed and handed out without wasting too much paper. The small set would be good for a bingo style game where students arrange a grid of cards and remove cards by following the teacher's directions.

Map Challenge - Read And Find It  -  Each row of students is a team.  One team reads the directions on the slide, then calls out the letter of the block where they think the place is located.   Click on the block letter to reveal the place.  Click on the picture to reveal the number of points won if they choose correctly.  It works best if teams are chosen in a random order by picking row numbers from a cup.
