Trump Blamed for California Fire
« on: November 13, 2018, 05:39:06 am »
The left is blaming Trump for fire in California. They believe that Trump himself causes global warming.  :cheesy:

Global warming is real my man.

Trump has echoed, in his idiosyncratic way, a familiar Republican charge: that environmental regulations hamper proper management of forests, allowing flammable vegetation to build up and act as fuel for fires.

Several ecologists have pointed out that “management” is typically code for logging by industry, whereby large stands of trees that would typically survive a wildfire are removed, leaving behind debris that is often more effective at spreading flames. Logging, therefore, can make forest fires worse.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/nov/12/california-fires-latest-what-is-happening-climate-change-trump-response-explained

“The president’s message attacking California and threatening to withhold aid to the victims of the cataclysmic fires is ill-informed, ill-timed and demeaning to those who are suffering as well as the men and women on the frontlines,” said Brian K Rice, president of California Professional Firefighters.

“The president’s assertion that California’s forest management policies are to blame for catastrophic wildfire is dangerously wrong. Wildfires are sparked and spread not only in forested areas but in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography.”

Large wildfires require a cocktail of conditions, such as favourable wind speed and direction, fuel, terrain and, of course, ignition, which can be as simple as a trailer throwing up sparks by scraping on a road.

Broadly speaking, however, climate change is making conditions more favourable for wildfires in the American west. Of the 20 largest wildfires in California’s recorded history, 15 have occurred since 2000, at a time when forests have become drier and warmer.

Since 1970, temperatures in the west have increased by about double the global average, lengthening the western wildfire season by several months and drying out large tracts of forests, making them more fire-prone.

“Climate change is increasing the vulnerability of many forests to ecosystem changes and tree mortality through fire, insect infestations, drought and disease outbreaks,” a major climate assessment by the US government states.

“Given strong relationships between climate and fire, even when modified by land use and management such as fuel treatments, projected climate changes suggest that western forests in the United States will be increasingly affected by large and intense fires that occur more frequently,” the report adds, noting that fire suppression techniques have also heightened the risk.

Here's an idea. Why not just create a dedicated megathread called "I hate progressives / liberals / lefties" and contain everything there, rather than pretending that the same repetitive themes are worthy of a new thread every couple of days. You could even have a specific focus for each day of the week, which would keep things neat and tidy. For example, Mondays could be all about how much the left hates freedom of speech and loves censorship. Then Tuesday could be dedicated to outrage about things said by various people on the left. Wednesdays are for mocking the victim mentalities of certain groups, followed by Thursdays devoted to lamenting the hardships endured by white, straight, conservative men. We all need a release on Fridays, so they could be just a general 5 Minutes of Hate kind of thing, where you can freely unload on target of your choice - the media, George Soros, university professors, the editor of Pow Wow Chow... Things are a little slower here on the weekends, so Saturday and Sunday could be reserved for the fringier topics that don't receive much uptake - conspiracy theories and stuff like "English teachers in Korea are trying to change Korean society by imposing their progressive worldview on children."

Yup. Everything in the world is Trump's fault and he's Hitler.

Okay, so conservatives here might be posting too much crap on a website. I guess that's what we do when we lose a split decision election.

What we don't do? Dress up in vagina/penis costumes, scream at the sky, trash college campuses, require trigger warnings and safe spaces, and burst into tears.

He didn't say that. He countered a misleading claim, fished out of a digital sewer, with factual information.

Nobody here is doing any of those things. People here are littering the site with endless "Aren't liberals just the worst?" threads, hence why nobody else is using this as an opportunity to talk about unrelated incidents on American college campuses from three years ago.

The only thing that Trump has to be blamed for is his lack of sympathy because he is a deplorable person.

Yup!  Couldn't agree more.

I live in California and these wild fires happen every year.  There's a running joke about how we have two seasons; fire and earthquake.  No one is surprised or shocked by these fires.  We all knows that they're gonna happen regardless of the rain we do or don't get.  Back in 2010 it poured (well, for California it did) and come September, the damn state burned down, again.  It will continue to burn till the Earth implodes.  What helps along these blazes is that NO ONE cleans up the dry and dead under brush on the hills and mountainsides.  Years and years of all this dead brush and trees, is just fire fodder.  California knows this, but does nothing about it.

Instead of spending the money on cleaning up all this dead underbrush, they're going to spend billions on a train to no where... really, it's going no where.

It's not Trumps fault that these fires started... that idiot just doesn't know when to shup up!  I STG.  I wish Twitter would just close his account down.  In violation for Tweeting stupid crap.
