Wine: White vs. Red
« on: August 04, 2018, 11:08:34 pm »
Why does it seem that when characters on TV shows or movies are drinking wine it is almost always red?

I like white wine. Red gives me heartburn almost instantly.
When the wicked are confounded, and consigned to flames of woe, call me.

Somethings that are probably not true that I can think of:
-red vs white projects a different image of the drinker
-white is sweeter, less classy, less mature (minus champagne)
-white is less masculine (see: White Wine Mom)
-Italianism: Only drink white when there is no red
-red wine in consumed more by society at large?
Ko fills half his luggage with instant noodles for his international business travels, a lesson he learned after assuming on his first trip that three packages would suffice for six days. “Man, was I wrong. Since then, I always make sure I pack enough.”

I say drink what you enjoy and what tastes good. If you like sweet wine, drink it. If you like Top 40 pop music, listen to it. If you just want to cheer for the Yankees or Man United, do it.

Screw hipsters and "connoisseurs" who are more worried about using their 'taste' to cover up their own mediocrity than actually enjoying things and being good people.

Yes, criticising people for things they like doing is so hipsterish and uncool. Umm... As long as it's not something I don't like. Then it's OK.  :-[

Plain and simple: It does look better on camera. It's no reflection on choice or preference.

Red is the colour of romance. Blood. passion.

White gives a subtly different message.

I assume you never took media studies.

White is good, Red I only drink in the winter time.  Red makes my body temperature rise.  And in this summer heat that is a "no thank you"

Try makgeolli or beer. It won't heat you up like wine and liquor. I'm extremely sensitive to this kind of thing.

White vs. red wine?

That's like white bread vs. whole wheat. There are some for whom it's a debate, but healthwise there's no question.

Red. Has way more depth and body. White wine is just too sweet for me. For the most part.

I remember their father commenting.......we savour our drinking more because we have time, whereas soju is a quick way to get drunk because Koreans have less time to enjoy it.   :undecided:

Well woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand
Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?
Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been
Come on, let's do it again
