Quick connect 4 game modified for this lesson. The double slide at the end is so you can print a front/back board. Some kids finish much faster than others, so they have another round to play.

Neko Atsume-themed 'find the cat' game.

Ask students "Where is my cat?" Students must suggest a hiding place, e.g. "it's in the box/it's under the bed/it's on the chair". Click a circle to reveal whether the cat is in that location. Click elsewhere/use keyboard to reveal target sentence. We used slide 2 to elicit target language like 'bed' and 'table'.

I played with students volunteering to say a sentence, which we'd drill as a class and check if it was correct. The correct guess would be drilled a couple extra times. Students who guessed correctly won the round and got some applause and praise. After a few rounds, my co teacher and I picked students who hadn't yet volunteered and coached them through a sentence.

By the end of the game, the students seemed more confident in distinguishing between 'in' and 'on', as well as making sentences with the target language. They got pretty excited when the cat was revealed.

Edit: This game can be a little easy, depending on the class. To make it more challenging, you can duplicate some slides, or make a few 'I don't know' slides by deleting the cat.

Odd letter out game to practice spelling the key vocabulary. Have the kids pick out the incorrect letter before time is up. First 3 rounds: pick out 1 letter. Next 2 rounds: pick out 2 letters. Last round: pick out 3 letters.

Expressions:
1. Where is my hat?
2. It's in the bag.
3. It's on the desk.
4. It's under the table.
5. It's under the chair.
6. It's in the box.

Materials for Lesson 1

Vocabulary & key expression ppt, plus a drawing game: Give each student a sheet, then read the script with your co-teacher. Students should draw items in the right place. Two rounds should take just over 15 mins. When checking answers, you can get students to say the key expressions for some speaking practice. There's a small review/cooler at the very end of the drawing game ppt-- ask students where the objects in the photos are and drill the answer.
