GOE Public Schools Available Nov 1st, Dec 1st and Mar 1st.
« on: September 07, 2017, 09:48:15 am »
Public Schools in Changwon, Jinju, Geojae Island, Yangsan, Sacheon, Haman – and a lot more other locations – all in the Gyeongsangnamdo region.
This region surrounds Busan.

Public Schools are available for November 1st, December 1st and March 1st. All contracts are for 365 days.

These positions come with EPIK employment contracts – absolutely no difference whatsoever; in-fact; what’s not commonly known is that the Gyeongsangnamdo Office of Education actually sits on the top of the ladder.

So – how is it that Korean Horizons can place teachers directly? Korean Horizons has been working directly with the Gyeongsangnamdo Office of Education (GOE) for more than 10 years continuously. The truth is – they prefer applicants to apply through us. Why? Because when GOE interview you – they can speak with you directly. They can get an impression of you and listen to what you want. They can place you in a school which they know and which they believe you would be a good fit for. They like that.

We recruit – have been recruiting – and we hope; will always be recruiting for this office. It’s actually our “home” education office; meaning that we have the closet relationship with this office. By applying with this office – you can actually choose the city or county within the province – big big big advantage over applying through EPIK – you can also have a preference with the age group that you choose – and you can apply on the 1st of every month (except 1st August, 1st January & 1st February each year.)

But saying that – the big advantage of applying through EPIK is the orientation. I would definitely recommend going through the orientation if possible – as you would get to meet so many others who will be coming just like you and you get to learn about the public school system through a professional orientation program. But if you are looking for a public school job now – through EPIK is not possible until February 26th. Apply through GOE is possible.

With GOE; there is a two day orientation – and – this education office has regular workshops whereby teachers for the whole province get together and develop their skills. The coordinator for this office was a public school teacher who has become the education officer. He’s very empathetic to the needs of the teachers and is very helpful throughout the entire time a teacher is with their office.

They have a great website which is – check it out.

Hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday. A wholly-inclusive working environment where you can lesson plan at the school – you wouldn’t have to take any work home.
This is a provincial region and therefore the salary range is the highest – 2.2m-2.95m per month; depending on your resume, the location you choose and whether or not you have multiple schools. Also; if you provide a residency certificate from your country; it can be tax free too.

Benefits include :
• Rent-free single furnished apartment near your school
• 300,000 won one-time settlement allowance
• Round-trip airfare allowance of 2,600,000 won
• 18 working days paid vacation + national holidays (5 weeks in total)
