Living in Busan. Should I be living in a different area?

Hey guys,

I'm new here. I actually just arrived to Busan tonight and have a job in the Busanjin district.

I'm not especially nervous to be living in a new country, but since emailing a previous teacher at my school, I was told there's nothing going on in this area, and highly recommended getting a housing stipend (would have to pay the difference) and live somewhere else. With that being said, it's right on the metro line which is nice and it is nice to not have to pay for my housing (which I won't move into for another week)

Since I'm exhausted from my flight, I haven't seen much but an open air market which was interesting. Maybe I should give it a couple months chance?

My concern is living in a dead(ish) location will impede my social life, but really how much does 20-30 minutes out of the way make for your social life in big Korean cities (dating, activities, nightlife)?

I would appreciate some perspectives from anyone who has lived in the bigger cities.  Thanks.
