Hi Everyone,

I have an interview coming up with Footprints Recruiting for some positions in Oman.  Has anyone here been interviewed by them?  I'm wondering what type of questions they ask.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.  :-)

Is this the phone interview that will put you into their database? If so, do not worry too much. I remember being asked about my degree, my teaching experience, and my personal experiences with people from other cultures. Answer the questions in a way that let the recruiters know you adapt well and have a passion for education.

Same as above for me too. They asked when i had experienced other cultures (professionally or personally) and how i thought i would deal with being homesick... nothing much to worry about. Good luck  :D

If you have an interview with the people in Oman, on the other hand, be prepared to answer grammar questions and have some lesson ideas. Though not for the positions in Oman (I got turned down), I was interviewed for Saudi Arabia and was asked a couple grammar questions.

All the best with the interview! Let us know how it went!

Understand you will be working for/paid by the recruiter (not the College of Technology/Government of Oman) for these jobs.  ???

I'd apply through:

Bahwan Cybertek LLC http://www.bahwancybertek.com/teaching_jobs_oman.html

or

TATI Oman http://www.tatioman.com/TEFL-TESOL.htm
The Ks once gave me five minutes notice. I didn't know what to do with the extra time.

Hi,

I used Footprints Recruiting to get in the EPIK program.

The interview is fairly standard:
- What type of education do you have?
- What did you study?
- How can this contribute to teaching?
- Why do you want to teach?
- What will make you a good teacher?
- Why do you want to teach in [...]?
etc.

Nothing to worry about. Good luck!

You definitely have to brush up on your spelling, too.   ;)

Good luck!
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me.

Ha!  I can spell I swear!  Just typing too fast and multi-tasking.  Working on finals.  Haven't slept in days!

Hi JamericanTeacher & cruisemonkey,

Just to clear things up- when working in Oman (or any other country through Footprints), you will most certainly be paid by the employer- NOT Footprints Recruiting. Footprints does not employ any teachers- we are recruiting agency. Every one of our teachers is an employee of their school and is paid by their school or ministry of education.

Best of luck with your interview with us.
