Title: What can I retain after expiry of E2 visa?
Post by: CunningLinguist on June 22, 2015, 10:36:53 am
Leaving in August.

What if I would like to visit Korea next year on a tourist visa and still want to use my bank account and credit card for purchases? Likewise I want to keep my phone number active.

Possible?

Phone number

Bank account

Credit Card

Stock account

Driver's License

Anything else?

Yes? No?

Thanks!

You should ask each company what the situation is, but in general you can keep everything.  Probably the most important thing is to set up automatic payments for everything from your back account.

So, for example, you can use your credit card, but it will be paid automatically every month.  And if your phone bill is paid automatically then that will stay alive.

Set up internet banking so that you can keep an eye on things.

Not sure about the driving license.  It ought to remain valid, but it may not be legal to use it if you don't have an address.  Call the licensing centre.  You could always get an IDP from your home country to go with your home license.

I have been in Korea and Japan several times (and back home) for years at a time and things have been as I left them when I returned.
