Title: Speed up apostille
Post by: allsmiles38793 on August 09, 2014, 12:36:16 pm
Is there any way to speed up the Apostille process on a CBC? I made a mistake and assumed my local government could do it. I just got a job offer that begins on September 1st.

Assuming you're in the US, the fastest way would be to fly to DC, then wait the 2-3 days to pick it up. Drop-off and pick-up must be in person between 8am and 9am, though. Not the most convenient.

You can make an appointment to have it done same day, but when I was getting mine done, the first available date was two weeks out from when I was calling, and you'll still have to fly to DC.

I've heard of people using channelers that can have it expedited, but from what I understand, certain schools or recruiters require it be done directly through the FBI.

And of course, last option would be to mail it. I think you may be able to use FedEx or UPS to have it mailed faster (don't quote me), but the process time would still be longer than having it done in person, of course.

Channelers can't do the apostille. They just expedite the background check.

And it's not longer the case that you can't do them through the channelers because now there are channelers that provide certified documents that are signed by the FBI section chief just like ones provided directly from the FBI that can be legitimately given an apostille.

Expensive, but could save you weeks of waiting, in which time you'd earn more.
