Is anyone else using these materials?  Will be scanning images, preparing powerpoints, etc.  I would really like to exchange with other teachers. :)

I have these books too, but before getting to the book, I was thinking about doing these in my first class, unless the kids had already made name tags in their homeroom class. The classroom English I'm hoping will be esp helpful for lower levels, to be covered with Classroom rules and last (if necessary) name tags and possibly name bingo.

to anyone interested...

I will be using these books too but have not been given the teacher's guides for them- does anyone have the ability to post them online?

Thanks!

i'm also using these books.  the CD-Rom seems like the most painful one i've encountered yet.  do we have to play the activities through that classroom "Shiny Teacher" skit or can we bypass that and just access the videos and activities without the extra stuff?

i don't think i have a teachers guide yet, sorry.  just a "resource book".

I'm using YBM's books as well.  In order to run the actual CD (not the smiley K-girl Demo) you need to download Adobe Shockwave Player. For some reason my computer won't allow me to run this program--so... I suppose I'll spend my morning re-watching the Demo lesson while waiting for the school technician to fix the problem. Looks like the basic layout of the book is similar to the old National Ciriculum.  Some of the Lesson titles are identical.  This is good news.  I'm hoping to use/adapt a lot of the materials from the old books.  :)

Anyone know how to download the cd to the desktop?

Easy: Just put the CD (you have to do it for each one, i.e. CD #1, CD #2, etc...) and go to My Computer. Right click on the Icon for the disc (it will probably be "D:") and click copy "복 사". Then right click on your desktop and click paste "봍여갛기". Then it should load to your desktop. Good Luck! : )

I used the "Pass the Chicken" for period 2. In the book it's pass the ball (students had to get up). Same idea : Sudents who catch the chicken have to read from ppt:ex- " I am hungry." While the rest of students have to say : " How are you." :)

Here are a few PPTs for Lesson 1 (Great for both 3rd and 4th grade).  My co-teacher gave me the first.  The second I adapted from a "hidden slide" PPT based on the old text book.  They are designed to introduce/familarize students with the new YBM-Si-sa characters.  Great for both 3rd and 4th grade.

The first is just a simple Intro to the characters.
The second is a hidden slide, guess the character activity

I've also included a song, "Hello. How Are You?", with some cute dancing penguins (I think they're penguins ::)).  My students enjoyed the song and it uses the target language.

here's a simple ppt I made to introduce some new emotions/feelings that match a poster I have in my room. The board will be used occassionally with my 5th/6th graders, so some of the words are a higher level than typical 4th graders maybe, but mine are smarter than their counterparts so I'm posting it in case it's useful to someone. To go along with this, i have them write the word in Korean and English in their notebooks for future use.

Grade 4 Lesson 2

A couple of PPTs adapted from last year's 5th grade lesson (Do you want some more?), thanks to whoever put up the originals!  Unscramble game and Yes, please/No thanks PPT--if Ss sit in pairs, have each person guess yes/no and see who guesses the most correctly.

For my students I did a 'nice to meet you' game by giving each student a pic of a korean celebrity or famous character and had them introduce "themselves" to the teacher before leaving class (would be better as a milling game, but too difficult to monitor and once the kids see the pics of who they are they go kinda nuts, so had to alter who they introduced themselves too.) As a bonus I made them shake hands too.

Anyway I can't give the pics (previous teacher made them and all I found are the hardcopies), but I can tell you the names to find your own pics.

Santa, Mario, Jae Seok Yoo, Hyori Lee, Homer Simpson, G Dragon, Yuna Kim, Rain, E.T., Mickey/Minnie Mouse, Shrek, Fiona, Kim Kura, Hye Sun Ku, Boa, Tae Hui Kim, Onew, Superman, Tiger Woods, Hong Chul Noh, Ji-sung Park, Min Ho Lee, Dracula, Spiderman, Mi Ran Jung, Myung Bak Lee, Obama, Doremon, Spongebob, Tweety, Pikachu, Pooh, Micheal Phelps, Yao Ming, Jackie Chan, Scooby doo, Hello Kitty, Pucca

Hope it helps. The kids really liked it!

Hey guys! If you want to post things for the lessons in this book go to:

For grade 3 --      http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1486.0.html

For grade 4 --      http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1487.0.html

Find the book we are using and use the link for that chapter or make a new thread for each lesson.
So it doesn't get too confusing for everyone :-)

Here is a role play i created for the Story Time in Lesson 3: Clean Your Room.
There is a Ppt with the story to read to the students and also the script for the role play. You can easily add or remove characters to change the group size for a role play.

5th and 6th grade use the same curriculum all over the country. You can find lesson materials by following the links in these threads:

5th grade: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1412.0.html
6th grade: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1410.0.html

Each school chooses it's own 3rd and 4th grade books. You can find links to the lessons here

3rd grade: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1486.0.html
4th grade: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1487.0.html

To use these you need to correctly identify the book that is being used at your school. However, many of the topics are similar between books so you may also be able to use some of the stuff on the same topic for a different book.

I hope that explains it clearly.

Anyone else having sound issues with the CDs?  All of the speech is so much quieter than the sound effects, so I turn the volume up so my students can hear what the characters are saying.  But then, whenever there's a sound effect it's so loud my students cover their ears.

I have my students pass a stuffed animal fish instead of a ball, you can replace the picture with whatever you use in your classroom...
There is a colors review before the game.

I am going to try a game called "monster"?  I found with Genki English.  The point of the game is for the students to try to get from one side of the room to the other without being eaten by the monster.  They have to ask the monster how it is feeling and if he says I am cold, happy, sad, scared, whatever they get to take one step forward.  If the monster says "I'm hungry" they have to run back to the safe wall and not get caught.  If they are caught they then become the monster as well.

Not sure where else to put these, so I'm reviving this thread.

My co-T logged in for me so I could DL them from here (thanks, Soie!):
