For Lesson 6. Period 3 - Reading Part.

A ppt with the following:

a) a tongue twister motivation.
b) a K-Pop story for them to practice their reading
c) an unscramble the sentences game to play in pairs.

The word file is the unscramble sentences for the game.

Enjoy!

Lesson 6 unit 1:  Used the post-it/charades game to review "I'm going to... I want to..." from lesson 5 (I want to make cookies).  This can also be used as a speaking activity for lesson 5.  I'm going to explain to the Ss that they have to take turns posting the post-it on their foreheads (otherwise they can't really see each other).

Hey guys, here's my lesson plan for this chapter starting from section 2 and some ppts.

Catch the words - the first half is unscramble the words, the second half is catch the words.

Pass the phones - my spin on the usual "pass the ball" ppt. You'll need to make 2 phones (I picked red and blue). The students pass the phones around and when the music stops, they read the dialogues.

Pirates of the Classroom - I found this game on waygook and edited it for this chapter. The students try to earn points by drilling "Is ___ there? This is Group A speaking. Let's meet at ___!"

Here's the Battleship boardgame I used for this lesson. Takes about 15 minutes to actually play it through.

The Blazing Pens game previously posted on this board is missing the 10-sec countdown, which I think is the main fun of the game, so I used a different template to make one for this lesson.  ^^

Re-uploading file...there were some errors in the last one~~

1st day
1. Riddle (answer: telephone)
2. look and listen
3. listen and speak
4. Fun and Fun 1
(I think this activity can be used for the listening lesson or the speaking lesson)
I included the dialogs we used for the game. There's a ringing audio clip if you click on the little speaker in the top left corner. You can click it to give the kids a better feel that they are practicing phone conversations.

My co-teacher also came up with the brilliant idea of having them use the second BINGO chart to play class BINGO. the kids fill in the BINGO card with their classmates' names.

Simple Sleeping Elephants game.

Teams of 4. (this works best but if you have to change it you can)

Each person is numbered 1-4. Each group has one white board, one marker, one eraser. (or you can give each student one marker each and they each have to write their own word. However, we don't play that way. )

Start with their heads down and eyes closed/hidden.

Say #1 wake up. Number one looks at their word. Head back down.
#2 wake up. Number two looks at their word. Head back down.
ETC.
After #4 say every/all elephants wake up.
They then work together to figure out what the correct order is to make the correct sentence.
I like to rotate writers as well so everyone can have a chance to write since we only use one marker per team.
We also count punctuation and grammar and capitol letters, etc. So if they miss that no points.

Any more questions just ask me. I have posted this game in other book threads and as always this is not my idea nor template.

Some 5th graders from Okcheon elementary school made their own videos using the lyrics from the Telephone Song. I assigned the same project to my 5th graders. It's just extra credit but most of my students are making them.

I'll attach the lyrics I typed out and the MP3 file.

Great ppt! My students are a bit more advanced, so I have added some to this ppt for them. It has all the key vocabulary so students can write it down and then go through the slides and say everything at least once and then practice a bit.

Thanks again Loops.

****EDIT I will be removing all of my materials as waygook.org wants to now charge you for something they did not create. If you would like a COPY FOR FREE, please inbox me and I would be more than happy to send you the materials. I would recommend all other users with  uploaded materials to do the same.

My kids had a great time with that one as well. Thank you soooo much!

Attached below is a great powerpoint which I created as an introduction but it could be used at any stage in the lesson as a sort of review. Hopefully you will love it since I spent so much time... making it rain! Anyways, enjoy!

I love this Batman game! Thank you Kyle Ludeke for all of the awesome games you make for us! Other than that I have 2 ppts to go along with this lesson. I found a few lessons for this chapter on my computer & I pieced them together, so if it looks a little familiar that's why.

Here is a  script I typed up for the video clip that LOOPS provided (May I Speak To Cathy.flv) . Has fill in the blanks section followed by questions.
Thank you for the hard work.  I modified it slightly and fit it on one page for students.  I also made a ppt that matches (my blanks and questions).  REMOVED

I've made a new word and sentence unscramble format in which the letters and words drop in, with a parachute theme.  Something different, anyway.

Um, I left the "r" out of umbrella in the answer, so you'll need to fix that. REMOVED
