Title: KIIP, fail a level--exam retakes?
Post by: tamahari on February 01, 2021, 02:52:33 pm
Hi,

I've seen mixed things about this online. I'm not 100% sure I wrote down the policy correctly during the first lecture, and my teacher is kind of useless, so I'm wondering if anyone has the correct information.

I recently took the KIIP Level 4 exam (for the first time) and got 55.5 points. (I bombed the oral exam because I could not make out what the examiner was saying at all--everyone had to wear masks and I had not practiced doing it like that.) That score is not passing, but I think if you get 55 points you're supposed to be able to take the exam again without taking the class again? If so, do you only get one chance to take it again and if you fail again, do you have to retake the class to try? Or can you re-take the exam multiple times? How long do you have between when you finish the course and when you need to have passed the exam before you have to start over from taking the course?

As far as I know you get 3 shots at the class and exam. If you fail twice you can take the class a third time and they'll let you move up regardless of your exam score.
But I believe if you don't pass the first try at80% attendance, 60% exam, you can retake the class at 80% attendance, 40% exam. Then if you fail AGAIN you can take the class a third time, 80% attendance, and you'll automatically move up regardless of your exam score.

I'm sorry I don't think you can retake the exam without doing the class again. I've never failed and I actually dropped out of level 4 last semester after feeling a total burnout, so I might be wrong but that's what I heard from my teacher. I agree it's hard to understand what's going on during zoom classes at times.
