Title: Pop Song Lesson - Anne-Marie 2002
Post by: colgate360 on April 18, 2019, 10:27:01 am
A fun and easy lesson! Good listening practice with some pop culture history, too!

I'm doing a lesson on 2002 by Anne Marie with my students. If you haven't heard it, the chorus of the song is a callback to five early 2000s songs. When we listen to the chorus, I show them the old music videos (about a minute of each song), and at the end we watch the whole 2002 music video.

I think the lesson works well because they get to learn a pop song (which they enjoy), and they get to see old music videos from the US with several different genres and styles. So far, they think the *NSYNC video is the funniest. Also, the Anne Marie video has a bunch of references to these old videos, so after watching it they can appreciate the callbacks.

Lesson Plan:

P.S. I use the "Video Speed Controller" chrome plugin to slow down and speed up parts of the song for easier listening.
