Can someone advise what documents I need to apply for the tax exempt status as an Australian.

You need a certificate of residency from the ATO. They are free but take a little time to process. Details are here...

http://www.ato.gov.au/print.asp?doc=/content/43288.htm

You probably want to go to your local Korean tax office ASAP, just fill in their forms, and tell them that you are waiting for your proof of residency to be sent, and they will approve you for tax free status.

Do Australians "Have" to register for that tax allowance?

Just wondering if Australians have to register for that tax allowance?  My girlfriend would prefer not to as it might affect her taxes next year..  Any thoughts?

This might be a silly question, but the ATO asks for the "Residential address of the Australian resident."
Does that mean my Australian address, or my Korean address?
I assume it means my Australian address.
Thanks.
