I don't understand reality anymore. My entire worldview has been turned on its head.

For my entire life, I've hated coffee. I tried multiple times to get into it, but I just couldn't. I even dated a coffee snob who had me try all sorts of fancy blends and styles, some based on what she knew about my tastes in other foods and drinks, and still I came away hating the stuff.

Once every several years I try to give it another shot, just to see if things have changed or if there is a style I missed that might be palatable. I had been seeing random people mention cold brew coffee a lot lately, so when I saw a bottle of it at the local CU, I decided what the hell.

I'll be damned if I haven't been drinking coffee every day since then. I'm almost angry that none of my friends has said "Hey Tim, why don't you try cold brew? It's not as tongue-f*ckingly awful as regular coffee."

I mean, it still wasn't good right off the bat or anything. It still had that "stale Guinness out of a dirty ashtray" thing that coffee has going, but without the bitterness or acidity. Apparently those were the two main hurdles for me, because I was able to power my way through that first can, and now four or five days later I'm not only drinking it every day, I actually look forward to my next drink.

I've even been looking into contraptions for making it myself to save on money and garbage, and this morning I was pestering my friend for info on different kinds of beans. It's a whole new world for me, so I've got a lot to learn. Hell, maybe cold brew is my gateway and some day I'll actually be able to drink "regular" coffee.

So yeah. I don't understand life anymore.

"Blacker than a moonless night, hotter and more bitter than Hell itself... That is coffee."

I'm with your past self. I despise coffee.  The taste is awful, no matter what form I try it in. Knowing that it is addictive doesn't make it any more appealing either. I'd much rather enjoy a cold glass of milk any day.

I wanna die

Went to a site to get an image for a kid for a class project

Ad pops up

It's porn

It was on the projector

Brb kms

This happened to me on Friday. Though, the students didn't know what 'cricket' is, so I decided to use the internet to show them. And the first ad on the website, was a porn ad. And couldn't close it for 15 seconds. Had to 'nope' out of that site quick. It wasn't a pop-up ad.
Luckily, the students were just talking to each other while the web browser was loading, and while I was searching. (The PC is a fossil and takes forever to load stuff), so no student saw the ad.
Why aren't you just google image searching this stuff and then showing them the pics there?

I already had pictures in the ppt. My co-teacher suggested a video, or website showing them.
I had been searching on youtube, but couldn't find any decent videos at the time. I didn't know Korean students didn't know about cricket until this class, so I didn't prepare a video before it. So I decided to try find a website that might show them how to play instead.

By decent I mean, showed all aspects of it. The ones I was finding, only really showed batting, and not even of them running, or what happens once a fielder gets the ball.

Cricket wasn't even a/the theme of the lesson, it was just something I used in an example of using the key expression/dialog.

I think picking up a coffee habit later in life is akin to smoking.  It's not good for you, costs money, unnecessary and gives you disgusting breath.

It's cheaper than and not as bad for me as the energy drinks I had been drinking, so it's a net gain.

I hadn't really heard anything about plain ol' black coffee being bad for me, though. What have you heard? Something "gives you lung cancer"-level bad?

Plain black coffee, or even coffee with a bit of milk, is literally not bad for you unless you're drinking excessive amounts. If you're having like one or two cups of coffee (or the equivalent in cold brew or whatever), there shouldn't be any negative effects to your health. It may stain your teeth a bit, but depends on your teeth.

Compared to drinking energy drinks, or cola, or anything similar to that, coffee is 100% safe.

Unless you put literal poison in it.

Coffee or milk isn't really the choice I was making, though. I wanted a caffeine source, and since most milk I'm familiar with isn't caffeinated, it was coffee or Red Bull, haha.

If the end goal was "enjoy the taste of what I'm drinking," I wouldn't go with coffee. I wouldn't really go with milk there, either, though. A cold Pepsi is where it's at for me.

...Unless it's strawberry milk. Then I'm down.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say that coffee is really bad for you, just that it doesn't offer any benefit that makes it worth getting over a distaste for it.  I don't drink colas or any sodas or energy drink.  I avoid caffeine as much as possible.  I also find co-workers and friends that make a big to-do about not being able to start their day until they get their coffee annoying.  I'm always surprised by the number of coffee drinkers that need to announce their intent to get a cup of coffee.  Who else would be interested? Maybe I should be posting on the rant thread now.

Wasn't there a story just last week about some sates passing a law that would require Starbucks et al, to print a cancer warning on their cups?

It's just small talk.
It isn't really about the coffee at all.

That's what I always assumed that kind of talk was.  People crying out for human connection (even in the smallest form) in an otherwise endless sea of deafening silence.

With the current topic of coffee, addiction, and cliches, I feel that this is now relevant:

Who has had their morning coffee then?

I'm on cup 2. Illy, yum yum!

Black and strong for me. Occasionally a splash of milk when I get an urge for something lighter but it doesn't happen often.

I like my coffee, like I like my women...

...in a cup.

Do not Google Image search "women in a cup" in order to post a witty photo in response to Dave's comment.

Good coffee - black.
Average coffee, however, can be used as a substrate for cream and sugar.

I have to use milk and sugar. I can drink black coffee if it's good, but I still prefer it mild, partially for taste, but also because I can't handle pure, unadulterated caffeine.

I like my coffee without any sugar. And without any milk. And without any form of coffee. And I like it cold, but not too cold. :p
