Made it to the 4th week before my mind started glazing over!
About 3.5 hours of Korean a day (after subtracting break time) plus whatever time I devote to studying outside of class to try and retain what I can; I feel fairly knackered by each day's end and have rediscovered the benefits of napping.

Sounds to me like you're on the verge of breaking through to the part where it sorta comes naturally, and the studying/learning becomes almost passive, like listening to a lecture in your native language.

When I was in the Navy, I studied Arabic at the Defense Language Institute. That was nothing but Arabic classes, eight hours a day, five days a weeks, for 18 months. I can definitely sympathize with reaching the point in language study where your brain just goes "lolnope," but in my experience it came shortly before reaching that "oh okay, I can do this now" level, haha.

Fighting!

Yep, I had that with Swedish.  It is almost like a 'click' and then everything becomes so lovely and like a different world.  The bit before the final 'click' is really frustrating.

My plans as soon as I get home.  I think I have the flu.  I visited the school nurse, but I don't have a fever. I hate being sick.

Oh, I have camps, but I've scheduled them for afterwards. Winter camps are so much more bearable with a tan:smiley:

I unloaded all of my uneaten snacks onto the students who come in to clean my classroom everyday. And they were happy to take it all, even the stuff they said was gross (I suspect they plan to make their friends eat them).

Here's to a new year and seeing what new weird food stuffs I end up collecting and sticking under my desk.

I head on vacation this afternoon too! I take off for China > Hong Kong > Japan, then come back for camp, then go on vacation again, then desk warm. :P

Sounds like an awesome trip! I've yet to make it out to Cambodia, but it's really high on my list of things to do.
Anyway, may your journeys be pleasant, your Mai Thais chilled, and your drinking water mostly free of coliform bacteria!

I was told that my school DOES want to renew me. (Principal left the decision solely to my Co-T, and if you recall last month, we got into a spate where she proclaimed her distaste for me). So this means my Co-T came around? She's been nothing but friendly and pleasant since I dished her back some venom during our "discussion."

CAVEAT: This means shit until the city hall budget comes out.

So.......... I leave for Indonesia on the 5th. I suppose that week there will decide my fate.

I just want to retire and drink coconut rum in a hut on a beach with Indo Girl until I die. Is that unrealistic?

Found out this morning that a childhood friend's father passed away.

Then proceeded to drudge through Day 1 of midterms.

Every so often mortality rears its ugly, beautiful head to remind us of how inconsequential the day to day plights truly are.

Anyone know a place that will buy PS4 games for cash? Seoul, South Gyeonggi?

Video game alley in Yongsan would probably be your best bet. They definitely sell secondhand games, but I'm not sure what their policy on buying is.

I know camp is basically free babysitting, but if the parents could stop sending their kids 20 minutes early to class that would be great.

At dinner, my wife handed me a spoon, which I politely rejected.  Wondering why, I had to admit to her that there are some spoons that I don't like using.  There is some cutlery I take a dislike to.  Weird.  I know.    :-[
